The Sort of new Maximus from Crossman

I posted some of this earlier on another thread, but not completely the same.
I would like to hear other experiences with the new Maximus from Crossman.
Oddly enough, I just received a new Maximus in .22, and is the first pellet firing AG I have fooled with in some time. All my shooting time has been taken up with Big Bores that I cast for.
I did not expect much from the Maximus at all. Just wanted a light woods walking gun that was fast and light. Something my .257 is definitely not.
Did a preliminary accuracy test, and was shocked. It shot as well as my old MTC from daystate. The first targets for site in were at 30 yards, and it was shooting with a "Not" Recommended pellet, (the 18.2 gr JSB), and it was literally hole in hole.
Stretched her out to 50 had got less than 1/2 inch. At 70 yards, 1 to 1 1/4" . No way in heck did I expect this kind of accuracy from a less than 200 usd PCP weighing in at 5.2 lbs, 6.3 with my 4.5x14x50mm Zeiss Scope on it! WOO-HOO!!!
Should be getting a TKO in the mail either this afternoon, or in time for the high winds and cold temps forecast for tomorrow. GRRRRR!!!
The Stock on the Maximus is modeled after the German style stocks. Right down to the schnabel forend. Very slim, and a fast drop comb. Too fast for me. And I am going to drill a small hole in the underside of the area between the pistol grip and the but pad, and fill it with non expanding foam. The hollow sound when it is bumped simply has to go!
It very light, but is a bit front end heavy. But then again, right now, I have a bipod on it for sight in. It will go, and a light sling added. It is after all, a very light woods walking gun.
Need to get into a few squirrels to really test, and give this little AG a good workout.
Can't wait. But way too strong a wind today, with a cold front coming in. Will post futher results with the Maximus .22 as I test a few other pellets. With the JSB's at 18.2 gr, I am getting 20 very good shots with a 1900 psi fill. Man, that is way different than 5 good shots with my .257 filling to 3800 Psi!!!

Awesome sauce! I was looking at getting a Maximus bundle from my local sporting good store that included everything. glad to see your having success with it. would you consider using caulk over expanding foam to help with the weight.

It's a pretty good design and a great value. I bought the "Hunter" since it is the same price as the base version, but includes a good 6x40AO scope that is superior especially for package scopes. With the Crosman discount code and free shipping Friday, it is substantially under $200. The stock is clearly designed for scope use. The only shortcoming is the plastic trigger assembly, also seen on Discovery and 2260 models.

Winner, winner; chicken dinner!
I have taken 24 squirrels with my Maximus .22 this season. I am loving this rifle - the squirrels, not so much!

My wife purchased me a maximus for Christmas as my first pcp and yeah that accuracy is way better than my bigcat is😨 for the money it hard to beat but yeah a muzzle brake is a must it's loud.

I love mine. I recently added a little weight to the front end, in the form of some .50cal. round balls, epoxy. I like a gun that "hangs", when I'm shooting offhand.
I can't believe the accuracy with the cheap cph's, in the tin. ( by the way, the QC of the new made in America cph's is improving. I just picked up a couple tins, and the pellets are a lot cleaner. by that I mean there isn't any flash running down the sides like there was previously. accuracy is still there, and the fit seems more consistent. )
