Nice. One thing leads to another, next you will need a .22 barrel to harness some of that power.
Is it dumping all the air @ 2000 psi? How hard is it to pump @ that pressure?

thanks , yees 22 would make way better use of the air.. difficulty pumping, i guess u can ask avator this week, im sending him the regular flat top i made for testing , and the pump effort is similar,. By pump 8 the plastic pump arm is flexing, but not at a problematic level.its like pumping a 392 i guess,,after 12 it gets harder.Yes it dumps it all , heres a video of 2000 psi firing a 177 cphp
i making another flat top adjustable today, because i have a feeling avator is gonna want more when he feels the power.

I also wonder how that would work in one of stonykill's .22 880 conversions.
Are these something easy to install?

the machined flat tops , yes , i can change em out in 4 minutes
, so can any one else thats ever taken the grips off an 880.. the gauge nO. but thats just for the test rig.. The adjustable flat top simply takes an installation, finding how how much stroke is left, taking it out, dialing it in , and putting it back in.. Presto done.. No thought needed just feel when the stroke is hardest, and the lever still closes and done

Well ive come to a conclusion , on 10 pumps, the gains are good , but on 15 or more is where the piston upgrade shines. Since theres no room for a bigger bore pump tube. I think a tube extension is next.. the I.d will be .015 bigger , so i just need to figure out how to seal that to the block ( maybe fatter oring will do it)
This way , with an addional 2 inches of stroke, at .745 id, the swept volume will be 2.29 ci vs stock 1.56 ci for a 47% GAIN!!!!!!!! in laymen terrms , pump 2 will really be pump 3, and pump 6 will have topped off the gun
the easier option is a .680i.d tube that sides right into the stock tube, so almost no dissasembly required,(WALL WOULD BE .025 STEEL PLUS THE STOCK TUBE WALL) the swept volume on the stock gun worrks out closer to 4 inches or less so lets say 1.67ci at 4 inches .. the 6.5 inches of the slightly smaller .680 at 6.5 inches would be 2.36 cu.in.Same gain , no mods needed on any seals , , just a change in linkage geometry

thanks, cant wait for avators results.. but i have figured out stroke is the biggest limitation( well without pumping 22 times

How long would the 880 last with all this extra power?...this is basically a TOY gun and not made with quality gun parts or metals...I`m sure all this extra stress will effect the life of the standard 880...PHIL

for 10 pumps with the adjustable flat top , it will last for as long as the stock gun, ur really only pushing another 2-300 psi with the adjustable piston.. Once you start pumping 20 times per shot , i have no clue .. ( no one will want to pump 20 times per shot)
As for the long stroke conversion, It will be no different than the flat top upgrade, You will simply pump less strokes, but the peak pressure will remain the same. The pivot pin can handle more than the pump arm arm itself, and the valve had no problem holding 1200 psi overnight, or firing 2000 psi in one shot.. ( never tested 2000 overnight)
In summation, I think the gun can be a relaible 875fps gun with the right balance of mods, and the swept volume is the biggest drawback.( which im still planning how to do pump arm geometry for longer stroke.. i want that to be simple so anyone can duplicate it with hand tools

Even if you kill them, they are only $40. Just move your mod parts over to another.

HAHAHAHA, avator has several , so when he tests the gun we can push him to try to blow it up on 30 pumps LMBO( i still dont think it will, he will just go deaf

I have a Metal/Metal 881 laying here in pieces waiting for a couple parts to arrive. Only thing not stock on the gun will be a smooth bore barrel that I swapped out of my Ted Williams. I have a new model rifled 880 barrel that i modified to fit it and that will go in the gun after testing. I'm also going to add a wiper to the back of Rob's pump head. I have a feeling we'll want to keep this thing lubed.

iN FRONT OF THE PIN and behind the piston u can put the wiper and washer, they will stay in place once in the tube..I havent needed it.. but add a drop or 2 every 100 shots. the oil that gets in front of the piston doesnt seem to go anywherre.Im finding the gains to be moderate up to 10 pumps , and insane from 12-20.. I had a hard time pumping past 13 tonight with one of my adjustable pistons.( an upgrade from the regular flathead) I would have sent the adjustable but it requires dialing in , and i didnt feel like laying out instructions ( yet)
My latest plan , based on all my findings is the long stroke conversion. its the major limiting factor in the gun..What it will do is reduce the number of pumps to reach the same pressures.( as indicated in reply #10

From looking at the pictures I assumed the wiper would on no problem. I will do the testing for you but, long term, I'm not planning on building that much power on a regular basis. My intent is only to build max recommended power with less pumps. I'll leave the "more power" thing to you guys. It will, however, be nice to have the extra power in the .22 880 that Stonykill is building for me.

all depends on application, no need for more power to plink, but for a 22 hunter its nice to have the option. the long tube should hit stock 10 pump power by pump 5 or 6.(if i can make it reliable) and u will see with the flat top, for normal 880 power you may only need 7-8 pumps, not 10, but the chrony will tell us

Am I the only one worried about an 880 pumping up to 2000 PSI. That HPA range even if it is a very small amount of air.

Valid concern.. but after getting measurements of wall thickness and thread engagement on the gauge itself, its actually not an issue at all..The first part to fail would be the botttom valve assembly... Matter of fact , the guys going to to 20 pumps on the stuffed stock piston are pushing around 1500 psi, they simply never knew it.

this would blow out the bottom into the trigger mech upon failure, the good news is the oring and valve stem washer would blow long before the metal plate at the base of the asembly
