Here is a low dollar 880 I have been working on for myself. During the summer I picked up a $1 tag sale 880. Plastic receiver, late 90's. I cleaned it up this fall, resealed it and enjoyed it s is.

Not long ago I was gifted a metal receiver and pump arm. The metal receiver is now on this, the pump arm will be at some point.

Right now the innards are stock other than trigger mods. She shoots 675 FPS as is with 7.4's. And loves those cheap Winchester dome pellets from TSC. The scope is one springer literally blew apart and I put back together, the mounts were on a crossbow.

So I have a buck in the gun and maybe $6 in seals. A little paint on the shroud and I will paint the receiver and the pump arm. I'll have $15 bucks in it total until I rescope it. Which I will do. I have a prettier stock and I think maybe this deserves it.

It will get some power mods and possibly a 24 inch barrel at some point. She will be nice rabbit and nutter thumper

Looks good Stony. Will the metal pump arm fit or will it take mods. Since I modded my junkyard dog 880 it hits a lot harder than my stock one. Trouble is, the plastic pump arm tries to bend. Wish I had a chrony but hate to spend $100 on a tool I may only use occasionally. May do it yet.

Thanks! The metal arm goes right in, no mods needed for it to fit. This arm has the metal latch that holds it shut, and it is noisy as 40 bullfrogs croaking when pumping it, so I need to remove that, paint the arm, and quiet down both ends of it. It clanks when open, and clicks and clanks when closing it stock. Probably not a big deal, but I'm used to absolute silent pumping on my plastic pump arms and won't settle for less in a weapon I hunt with.

Get the chony, just don't become a slave to it.

Nice looking rifle from the looks of it. That a wood grain synthetic stock? It looks brown but can't really see it...
And nice FPS out of it too.

1/2 inch pipe insulation. Stays nice and warm on the cheek when shooting in the winter. Plus it sets me to just the correct height.

Did a little work on this the other day. Just firmed up the piston head. Still has the stock transfer port size and no porting and polishing. They both will be the next step.

Was 675 FPS at 10 pumps with a 7.4 grain pellet.

Now same pellet :

10 pumps

12 pumps

15 pumps

So that's 8 FPE at 10 pumps, 9 FPE at 12 pumps and 10 FPE at 15 pumps.

Same test with sorted Winnie domes weighing an actual 10 grains. Yes Winnie domes vary greatly in the same tin for weight. So I started sorting them.

10 pumps

12 pumps

15 pumps

So at 10 pumps with the 10 grain pellet it is 9FPE, at 12 pumps 10 FPE and at 15 pumps it is 11 FPE

I didn't test at 20 pumps as I'll never pump it that high in a hunting situation. Doubt it'll ever see past 12 pumps actually. Unless I'm hunting adult woodchucks with it at 20 yards or less, then I'll pump to 15.

Next round should get us to 12 FPE at 15 pumps with no aftermarket parts. Just lightly modded stock Daisy internals. Gotta love it

which of the metal receivers work with modern internals?

A 24 inch barrel would do the most good for heavy pellets especially if you can get any more valve volume... as is now is very good though...

I just read a part number for the U.K. Disco barrel that is supposed to be 26"...

It certainly was worthwhile.

I have yet to find an 880 or 881 metal receiver that either didn't just flat out fit the new internals, or at the worst case require minimal dremel work to fit.

Either a 24 inch barrel or the 853 LW barrel like you have for your 2100 will ultimately find their way into this one I think at some point down the road.

I have not removed any valve body or abutment chamber material yet. So I have plenty of volume to gain. As well as opening up the transfer port. Now with a little tweaking, porting, polishing, attention to details on clearances I wonder if I can hit 800 at 15 to 17 pumps? Gonna find out down the road

Yeah baby! 7.4's 15 pumps. Was 763. Now

aluminum tape o ring shim under the piston oring and a new oring. Only changes. 800 FPS is in sight

FYI, now 735 at 10 pumps. Formally 703 at 10 pumps.

Didn't take pics, but I ran a 8 pump and 6 pump 5 shot string.

6 pumps 616 FPS average

8 pumps. 651 FPS average

with 7.4's. I'll rarely pump past 8 with this. I like it
