I've tried a bunch of different brands of pointed pellets; and each, and every one was so inaccurate they were unusable. Not to mention, so inaccurate they were unsafe. Remember; a "miss" means that you hit something you didn't intend to...
So does anyone use these as there go pellet? And if these things are as universally inaccurate as my experiences; why do they still produce them?

All pointed pellets are not inaccurate in ALL airguns. The pellet, the airgun, and the distance of the shot are all involved. The accuracy of pointed pellets generally starts to fall off as distance increases. I find they shoot well in one of my guns at ranges out to thirty yards. Generally a domed pellet is preferred, though. In any case your gun will show you its favorite pellet. It's not really your choice.

Pointed pellet have never shot well in any AG that I have, until I bought a TX200 22cal. That goofy gun loves pointed RWS out to 40yds.

Same here... only ones that are close are the Kodiak pellets.

Try some rn profiles.

The semi-pointed Crosmans from the '90s were very accurate in my HWs. These have recently been reintroduced but I have not tried them yet.

I've had good luck with the RWS pointed and Tech Force pointed which I think are now discontinued...

My first experience was with Crosman pointed because they were easier to get but none of my airguns like them...

Same here, none of my air guns like them. I have read in the past that the reason they are so inaccurate is because the 'point' is off center!
To me that would make sense....

Wow! Maybe they only shoot well in cheap guns, because my b19 absolutely loves standard crosman pointed pellets. Also my ruger explorer loved them, as well as my 760.

For what it's worth, the most accurate pellet in my Benji 392 was the 13 grain pointed JSB's, but to be honest, even they weren't accurate. The were just the least inaccurate pellet for that gun...

The Crosman 7.4g points did dimes at 30yards on a good day after I accidently choked the barrel of my 725 fps(with 7.4g points)2100b...
that barrel and the carcass (minus the pump) Became Big Bore Bart's 2100b pcp and did well with the Winchester 9.7g. great at going thru a few layers of tin can..

and cheap to boot... the 7.4g also do pretty good to 20 yards out of both of my Daisy 953s the 1985 has the L.W. barrel

Pretty much all my 13xx .22 pumpers can hit a Quarter (side rested) at 30 yards with the Ruger 16.7g pointed...have many .5 groups on a no coffee or wind day...

they like the Crosman 14.3 points out to 30 yards also...

My Mom's Stoeger X5 and Step-Dad's X20 LOVE the JSB Stratton pointed pellets.

They went out and bought those two AG's after shooting with me and ran into the usual problems, so they next time I was at their house I did all the usual maintenance and started pellets testing. Was pretty surprised that was 'The Pellet' for both Stoeger's LOL!

Alos, my 1377 loves those cheap Crosman pointed pellets above, which is the only cheap pellet that I have got to work in any of myAG's.

I found JSB STRATTONS shot very well through my RX2. It didn't penetrate better than FTS and it lost energy quicker as well (indicative in the penetration tests) but it was a fine pellet whenever I shot it. I still have a couple tins as my backup pellets or just for the sake of trying something different again. It truly had hunting accuracy.

I think, not totally sure, JSB discontinued them. A pity if it's true.

My Crosman 2240 likes the JSB Stratons as well, fortunately JSB still manufactures them

Pointed pellets are developed for hunting birds, so the point can find its way through the feathers. Accuracy might be less, but that doesn't matter since the target to hit is generally bigger.

Best allround pellets are still the wadcutters up to 25 yards or domed ones for longer distances and more powerful airguns.

But hey, the best pellet is the one you can hit where you are aiming at. And if that's a pointed pellet, it is a pointed pellet...

I've given that some thought now and again. I think there are targets that do get penetrated by pointeds. The feathers on a crow would make sense also having tge energy of the pellet initially coming from a defined point on bone for example would also seem better. Things like clay, wax and large soap bars... domes penetrate better everytime. The pointed does good but they do get edged out in those mediums.

I'll tell you a horrible horrible projectile - whose the genius who came up with steel bb's??!!! Can you pick a more dangerous projectile? It kills rifling, it's horribly inaccurate and it'll BOUNCE of hard surfaces. Since lead shot was around probably before bb's it makes you wonder why it was ever chosen.

They were created to toughen us up as kids and make us more responsible on how it feels to be on the recieving end of those BBs... lol Or maybe just to sell more safety glasses...

well I just tried the Kodiaks/Barracuda(just got them) in my .25 Mrod today I felt I was shooting my dads 512 Rem with 70s t22 ammo; I felt I was the weak link otherwise would be shooting half MOA...

So any ways stopped up on Stemilt hill at my fav spot... had a mag of 3 JSB and 5 Cudas

let fly at 50 yards and barely missed Outside to Outside moa...got a .6" 3 shot JSB Exact group...up to the left because some one put it on the rack by the shroud not the tank...It had held zero for months, but this last week of sitting on the shroud?

so then the cudas and .8 outside to outside 5 shot group,
move up to 30 yards and single loaded 3 more 31g cudas for .4" outside to outside... (I do not like how the cudas feel feeding from the Mag)

I do feel it was me at 50 maybe the magazine with the cudas the rifle could have done better...

Cuda pointed & Apple tree rested...

I shoot the Eun Jin .22, 32g, Straton Monsters & Eun Jin .25, 43g. All shoot well for me in Korean pcps. But they're too heavy for a springer.

It doesnt make sense that wad cutters are more accurate then a pointed pellet but they are. The point being off center makes sense but i wonder if certain pellets would prefer more or less twist then what they usually get?

My last hobby was black powder and i tried conicals and they wernt as accurate then a plain round ball. Which makes me wonder if these may like a round ball?

Do they make .22 or .177 round lead for say shotgun reloading?
