Title: Hipac 2250 w/10yd
Post by: Backyardsniper1 on October 17, 2012, 03:40:15 AM
Here's my work in progress. I've added the green hammer spring ,power adjuster, and cut one coil from the trigger spring. I shot 10 shot groups at 10yds on med low, low, and med power.I had a phone book back drop with a slight slant to it. I shot from a seated position using a wooden tray table.I filled to 2k for ea. group. At some point I could hear a slight air leak in the vicinity of the transfer port or valve itself. After about two more fills I no longer heard the leak and saw no bubbles with a soap test.

Nice shooting and nice setup. I built a 2250 and they are awesome guns to tinker with. Funa easy and the part are pretty inexpensive. They are also very accurate.

Your HiPac seems to b coming along nicely.  Find some time and effort spent on the trigger is well spend (light guns are “twitchy”)…and getting the cheek up a bit has helped my holding/grouping quite a bit (probsalby also due to the light weight).

Think I really need another 2250.   Keep farting around with them, turning them into other things, and I kind of miss the basic gun (in my case, would be a 12gr. co2 carbine).

Think I may have to put a WTB ad in…and hope I can just leave it alone and not convert it to something else.

Yeah it's so easy to get parts and there is a lot of knowledge posted here and there.
I still have my factory parts aside from the valve stem and seal that I modded, so I can convert to bulk fill. Before I do any more modding I think I would just get a P'rod or Mountainair custom.

That bulk fill adapter from JDS did you have to get a different valve for your 2250? I want to go that rute.

You will need a bulk-fill valve. Other people have them, but believe mine was from here:
http://www.bryanandac.com/22XX_Parts.htm (http://www.bryanandac.com/22XX_Parts.htm)

The tank block on that one is a standard QB79 part.  Figure i was only going to run 850PSI output (which is enough for 14 foot pounds and +100shots per fill). That's less pressure than warm day co2 pressure, so actually less stress than co2.

Once you add up a tank block, an HPA tank, and a bulk fill valve...getting to be a bit of $.  Then you have to cut the tube, drill the bolck mounting holes (hopefully in just the right place), reassemble, and start fidding around with the tuning.

The HiPac conversion is a lot easier (at least it would be for a standard 2250...the riser breech, shroud, and LW barrel on mine kind of pushed the price way up). Conversion tube is $70.  Other than valve retention, swapping for the HiPac seal, and changing striker springs (it comes with the springs and seal) don't have to do or buy anything else.

Thanks sounds like the hipac is going to be easier to install and will cost less to boot!

I plan on getting that with the boss valve.

Re-plan.

HiPac unit needs the standard valve (or at least one that still has the peach colored 12gr. seal in place) in order to work. Boss valve won't.

Hipac offers a heavy blk valve seal on their site. It's what I'm using on mine.

Yes...but that black seal still fits into a standard valve, not a Boss Valve.  A modded valve designed to work with 12gr. would work with a HiPac, but the traditional Boss bulk fill type would not.

I was planning on getting a regular boss valve designed for 12
G carts. I have seen others use it with hipac.

That bulk fill adapter from JDS did you have to get a different valve for your 2250? I want to go that rute.
i have the jds drop tank adapter an my 2300.i like it better than the qb79 drop tank adapter because if you notice the tank block mouting holes are further away from the fill edge of the tube.if misjudge where you put the qb tank holes the gun can have castastrophic failure,it has been reported before the holes fatigue and the tank goes pop.with the jds adapter there is less of a chance of that happening
the other thing with the jds adapter it isnt necessary to cut the tube.what was told to me because the threads are wider than the tube there is less meat there and can wobble the adapter.iirc there is a .030 difference between the threaded part of the tube and the unthreaded part, most likely the reason the jds has a fat o-ring closest to the threads.i chose to cut the threads off so there is little to no wobble with the adapter,i now have a -016 90 duro o-ring there instead of the fat one because both o-rings are now in the tube.for extra security a third retention hole was added to the top of the jds adapter.heres the bad with the jds adapter there is no bump where you install the tank, the qb adapter has a bump in there that engages the air/co2 release pin.with the jds you have to remove that pin or get an inline on/off asa adapter.thats the route i chose didnt want to have to fill my tank while it was attached to the gun.
for the valve i went with a discovery valve no need to buy expensive boss valve parts that route.
all the machining was done by Lloyd s-s of airgunlab.com    http://airgunlab.com/ (http://airgunlab.com/)
it was a great experience working with Lloyd, his machining work is top notch.fast turn around at the time also.i really feel better about having him do the machining because i have seen the videos and read the blogs with him and his builds as the subject.he knows what he is doing and has the equipment to do it
take a look at my gun you can see where the adapter mounting holes are then look at the pic with the qb adapter.there is nothing wrong with the qb adapter if its used correctly go to the site they are sold there have been some cautions added
heres the pic see how far away from the end of the tube the mounting holes are now look at the qb adapter and where the holes are

the boss valve does come in a 12 gram cart version also taken from the bna website
BOSS Valve:  The Boss valve, modified stem guide & 12 gram CO2.
The valve stem and valve spring are unmodified originals. For 2240, 2250B, 2260, 1760, 2300, 2400
(http://www.bryanandac.com/images/Boss7.jpg)
you would probably do better to get the boss disco valve and use a 22xx valve face instead of the bulk face.then at least you have the 8-32 retention screw thats recommended and if you want to fill above 2000psi add the extra two retention holes.i guess you could get a regular dico valve and add the 22xx valve face too.someone on here was going to do that and report back, cant recall who that was though.
