Lose some hammer weight ( On a regulated gun only ) it shoots even better and gains some shots too.
Any thoughts? And does anyone else have experience with both a custom and the kit?Any other thoughts to continue making this great gun better is always appreciated.
The link smoketown gave you has all my info in it and other peoples info. I lightened the hammer by allot and kept the stock valve spring. That worked for roughly 28 fpe and a reg setting of 135 - 140 bar. Once I decided to drop the rifle to 15 fpe I had to replace the valve spring with a stiffer spring. I might have a second thread with my final adjustments and tune. When I get a chsnce I will check and link if I find one.
So tonight I measured some more shots.I have put over 500 rounds through the S510 since the last time I measured the velocity. It has shown itself to be very consistent Extreme spread for 45 shots from 240 bar down to 140 bar was 15 fps with an average of 866 fps. almost exactly what it did last time! The only difference is I measured it over more shots as last time I only shot 40.It starts to fall on its face on round 46 dropping to 856 and then down to 851 on 47 and 844 on 48.Now to get it down to single digit extreme spread. You guys have laid the ground work now it is time for me to follow suit.
Well it has been a while since I commented last.Since that time I have added a Clague LDC.Big difference dropped 16 db.It is so quiet pellets hitting the target at 25 meters is louder than the report.I had left it alone after adding the Lane regulator.Until last night that is.I pulled it apart and decided it is time to start some tuning. After rereading all the Air Arms tuning threads, I decided I probably would not screw it up too bad.So out came the hammer.Since I do not have a lathe, I chucked up in a drill and used a grinding wheel to turn it down.It started at 50 grams on the dot, I managed to reduce it 12 grams to 38 grams.I only have the stock hammer spring so I left it alone. Also keep in mind I have the lane poppet spring so it is stiffer than the stock one.I also polished the hammer guide and bushings and lubed it up with a light coat of synthetic gun lube.
