they have designed a shorter and lighter hammer/striker and that should assist this issue.
I will keep everyone posted as I hear more from them, and as i get more parts from them.Edward
many thanks to 454' and z' for their work... here I have read most of their stuff on this issue. I'm glad someone with much more experience than myself is trying to get a good "engineering type' solution to this issue.... the talon has the potential to be a great gun, we just need to balance hammer length/ weight and spring power to answer these questions.....sure am glad that AA is on it and my experience with them has been positive so far . i did get the new hammer in just 3 days but I will be in SC for flood relief next week so no shooting for me.
Zandrew, your idea for using a drilled out grub screw is identical to Talon Tunes. I just re read that. That is EXACTLY how there setup works. its cool but kind of pricey... not saying it isn't worth it.
the Talon Tunes top hat is a one piece design. he gives you two grub screws that have different sized holes in them. without the grub screw the flow is MASSIVE. i saw a 60 or so FPS increase all other settings identicle. you can no longer adjust the top hat clearance tho.
Just got off the phone with AF, and they're sending the shorter hammer. I'll see what happens with a 12" barrel (but I'll likely still be dealing with post-harvest tasks for the next month, so you wouldn't be wrong for thinking that everything will probably be sent to Tim, for tuning, once I realize I don't have time...).
I Asked them and they are including me a hammer spring to "mod". i told her very clearly i wished to Cut coils and see how it goes, and didn't want to wreck my main spring. I offered to buy it. But seems she's interested in seeing how it works. I am also waiting on delivery of this package from AirForce, as well as the heavy hammer spring from Talon Tunes. The Talon Tunes heavy spring is about a 1/2 inch shorter. I figure with the combination of shorter hammer, heavier and shorter spring, plus original hammer and original spring, and then modded stock spring i ought to be able to really tinker. Ed
Well. The new hammer showed up today. It appears from my eyes to be lighter and shorter, but i'm not holding my hammer right now... i have not ripped my rifle apart yet.I don't know if there shipping the spring seperate or what. I also don't know if i'm supposed to use this in conjunction with my hammer weight. I am going to email Rachel and find out. My Talon Tunes stuff will be here tomorrow i think. Can't wait!Ed
