Longer screw mod on Quattro - how long?

I've read a number of posts on the longer screw Quattro trigger mod, as well as Mike Ellingsworth videos on it, but I've never seen where anyone said how long the screw ended up being when it is just the right length.
The original factory screws are 12mm long from tip to underside of cap head. I have a couple of 16 mm screws to work with, and was wondering if someone who has gone through the process and ended up with just the right length to have a very nice (yet still safe) trigger has ever measured the length that they ended up with.
Just trying to save myself some trial-and-error time. Thanks.

You can very easily make the trigger unsafe with the longer screw.
When I put the longer screw in, I started with the screw barely engaged. I then loaded a pellet. With the gun pointed in a safe direction I screwed the screw in until the gun fired. Then I backed the screw out a half turn. I reloaded the gun and then bumped the gun to see if it would fire. The gun fired so I had to keep backing the screw out until it would no longer bump fire.
With the screw backed out to the point that the gun would not bump fire, very little improvement was made in the trigger setup.
Once your gun will not bump fire, you need to test it to see if it will fire with the safety on.
It was fun to adjust on the trigger but I really can't say that the longer screw is worth the risk.

I took out the original screw and used my mini-lathe and removed a few thousands from the threaded side of the head and that did reduce the pull weight enough to live with. I think it's getting some better the more I shoot. I'm kinda lazy so i'll leave it as is. Too many others with great triggers to shoot, however my model 95 seems to be accurate enough with my peep sight setup.

Sekiar,
What kind of peep sight setup do you have on your 95? Can you post a pic?

It's either a Beeman or Willimans. I'll check tomorrow and see for sure:) Charles

It's an new old stock Beeman air gun peep, which I like better than a similar Williams. Charles

If I recall correctly, the new screw should be about 2.6mm longer when fully screwed in.
As other has said, you can use a long screw and just not screw it in all the way, or use little plastic washers(sometimes you need to trim them) under the screw head.

I've never tried the longer trigger screw on mine for a couple reasons. First is over time, all the parts and pieces of that trigger will break in/wear in all on their own and with over 1500 on mine, I don't consider it one bit bad and it's very smooth and predictable at least to me.
Second, when you cock that gas rammed rifle, that sear is holding back a ram filled to 125 Bar or just about 1813 psi of pressure. I adjusted mine going by Rick Eustler's video on how to adjust the Quattro and at least by the video, that's somewhere about a 2 1/2 pound trigger pull if memory serves.
Just me but trying to go lower at some point might likely reach out and bite you when you least expect it.
End of my usual lame 2 cents

RBQchicken: I just pulled and measured both of my trigger screws. The front screw (first stage adjustment) has 13.38mm of thread, and I use 1mm of shim under it effectively making the screw 12.38mm in length). The rear screw (second stage) has 12.05mm of thread, and I use a 1/2mm shim under the head (shortening the thread to 11.55mm). Doing this, polishing all the contact areas, and setting the tiny little tension screw to just a tad more than nothing has my trigger feeling the way I want it to, but still safe enough that it won't "bump-fire." This doesn't mean these lengths will work for you. Unfortunately, each trigger group will be different. My first 85 needed more length in the first stage screw, and no modification to the second stage screw. That gun had a problem, and so it went back to Hatsan. This replacement had a much improved trigger feel right out of the box, and required less first stage adjustment than the first, but needed a little extra length on the second stage screw. Point being: you will likely still need to experiment...CAREFULLY...as mentioned above. Also note: I pulled both groups apart and polished all the contact surfaces, so your mileage may vary. You'll need to play with it a bit, but hang in there...you can get this trigger to feel REALLY nice, and break crisply. I hope this was some help, and wish you the best of luck.
Reason for edit: I am a dope!

Jeff, that's odd that your screws are that short. Mine are 12 mm from the bottom of the head to the end of the screws. I ended up leaving them as is, because with the action out of the stock I was able to look at the position of the sears when the trigger is cocked and there is not a lot of leeway to lengthen the screws any more. At the most, I could go maybe a half mm longer.
Since I had returned my first 95 under warranty because it didn't shoot accurately I wonder if the service dept. could have put different (longer) screws in when they were testing the replacement gun they sent to me? You wouldn't think so.
Anyway, the front screw was screwed all the way in and the second screw is slightly more than 1/2 turn out.
All I ended up doing was lightly polishing all sears, lubing them with moly, and leaving that oddball part out with the small spring.
The trigger on this replacement gun has been pretty good all along, I just figured as long as I had the gun apart for refinishing I'd try to refine it as much as possible.

Ummm...yeah, sorry...had a senior moment this morning. The battery in my digital Vernier caliper was dead, and I read the wrong scale (thought standard scale was the metric scale for some reason). I will go back to my previous post and correct the data!😧
