Thanx scp52. I saw that post (yours, right?). The paper towels were just an experiment. I considered using your idea, but figured the extra weight carried in the rear (caulk vs. foam) might make it carry better, and help tame the (so far) awful/harsh recoil/shot cycle. And with caulk, if I decide I don't like it, it should be pretty easy to remove.
Anyone ever remove/replace one of these front sights on a Hatsan?I suspect it is just pressed on, and will likely come off with some tapping with a hammer and wooden dowel, but I wanted to ask others before I ruin this front sight while removing it (and then can't replace it because Hatsan parts support is virtually non-existent?). I need to take it off to recrown the muzzle, and any advice on removing it would be greatly appreciated. I just sent an email to Hatsan USA regarding purchasing parts other than breech and piston seals. Can't wait to see their reply.
I would like to recrown it as it snags pellets pretty well when I push them through the muzzle. Barrel isn't choked, as my understanding is choked barrels tighten up the last inch or so of the bore. This bore is (now that it's lapped) pretty smooth all the way to the muzzle, where the pellet stops and takes a bit of extra pressure to push through. I just want to eliminate this tight spot/crown as a hindrance to accuracy, which is still questionable right now.
