Some years back I bougtht a CHinese Side Lever from Mac-1 who was assisting a reclusive collector sell off some of his inventory.
I am still really impressed with the preformance of this rifle! Being an "ODD" brand, the search for other EMEI rifles has been a dead end.
Aside from it's rareity the rifle is basiclly a very early model of the TS-45 thoughit has some interesting attributes. First of all is the non-adjustable single stage trigger that breaks clean and crisp and is actually pretty good! Next the barrel is a very well made and accurate part. It's got a pleasing taper (unusual for early Asian guns). It's a very accurate barrel and is quite accurate!
Available power is suprising! Hving ots out to 30 yards are an easy reality with the sight set on a flat shooting first step.' The sights are reminiscent of the AK-47 ladder, type. There is no provision for scoping the rifle and it severly limits the usable range for small targets! larger objects like soda cans can be easuilly hit at 50 plus yards! If there was a scope rail you might have a 60 plus yard plinker!
Not bad for my inital investment of $25! Evidentlly the Collector had really found a very special version and pruchased it back somewhere in the early 80's and put it in a safe not to be used much!
I couldn't get any info from the reclusive collector and Tim didn't have any info on it either.
The gun hadn't been shot much but I felt that since it is a tough and well made little rifle, that use would not harm it a bit. Besides the collector market for this rifle dosen't exhist so why not shoot it? The rifle accepts nearly any .177 pellet and shoots pretty well with any style of pell. I have had the best luck with the very simple Crosman Pointed Field pellet. This didn't bother the me or the wallet one bitQ
Overall the EMEI has been an intresting rifle to shoot and own so far!

Keep it and yours might be one of the only several Emei airgun in the world. I am Chinese and from China mainland. Emei used to be a quality airgun manufacture in China, but after Chinese new gun law released in mid 90s, all airguns became forbidden. Most airgun makers were closed, and Emei was one of them.

I have heard the rumore of Olympic Barrel manufacdturering but it was for rimfire applications. My EMEI has a wonderfully accurate .177 pellet barrel, nicely made with a long gracefull taper and no too marks showing!
The Emei Sidelever is at least one whole grade above the basic TS-45 rifle thet was mass marketed through the 1980's. I think theese early Emeis were prototypes of what shouldhave been built and sold!
