question on pellet trap quieting

(1/3) > >>

Ammon177:
Have a question on pellet trap backing.  I have a sturdy wooden trap, but want to quiet it down.  A friend suggested duck seal compoud that he got at the hardware store intead of old magazines that I'm filling it with now.

Roadworthy:
I don't know how your trap is constructed but if you have space to hang something you could hang a piece of old carpet inside.

If you go to a bit more trouble you can cut a garden hose into short lengths, drilling a hole near one end.  Thread the pieces onto a bolt or rod.  When you are done it's kind of like a bead curtain only instead of strings of beads hanging you end up with lengths of hose.

Mackado:
Yes, electrician's duct seal works, you can make a nice elaborate pellet trap out of wood with handles and all, samples easy to find online, or just place the duct bricks inside a gallon plastic bag and hang that on the plywood for double safety. Rubber Mulch is very popular backstop too, but with larger footprint and heavy, especially when using indoor.

Here's some recent replies to the same question, enjoy.

     Thanks Thomas and Octavia,
I think I will try both the duct seal and carpet first on separate traps.

Oldgunner:
I packed 8 bars of duct seal in a 9x13 baking pan and hang it on my backstop.
