I have heard that some 9oz cylinders are too large dia. for proper fit. That being said, where can I buy the right size 9oz cyl.? Mine I have now is actually 2.105"Dia. will it work without the offset adapter?
Wonder if Mike Mellick sells them with that adapter installed???
(full of questions)

Nope, you need the offset adapter if the tank is even a fraction over 2.000".... I've heard of 9 oz. tanks under 2", but never seen one....

Any recommendations on who/where to get an offset adapter for one if in-fact we can't find the right size. From what I'm hearing the tanks are insanely random.
The only store near me that sells them keeps them in that security plastic that would make it impossible to accurately measure without buying and returning them

The older Brass Eagle 9 oz. steel tanks are 2" or less. I lucked out and found one on an auction site. Why nobody still makes them I'm not sure. Some of the refurbs may be steel, but it sure seems like the tank peddlers are missing the chance to sell 2" diam. tanks that hold a decent volume.

I got my 9oz tank used at a paintball store. I was lucky it was a 2" one. You can get an offset tank adapter from @#$%^. I even put a tank cover on mine and still have a little room. Here is a pic of it.

Thanks folks, I ordered an offset adapter from archer and it should be here soon. I like the look of your rifle bigern! I might install a quiet maker on mine as well.

I received this information from jct, in sept of 06.
Barrel spacing...hand file a groove in the bottom of the fill block exactly the same width as the barrel band, maybe 2 business cards deep. Then use a dowel rod with a slot to fit emery paper into, then sand out to the ID of the band where the rifle barrel goes through, on assembly of gun, shim the top of block with 3-4 layers of coke can, when tightened it seperates the tube and barrel just enough. Now I did this and it worked, I've since gone to riser breeches. Hope this makes sense.

They shoot real nice with a regulated HPA 13cuin tank. This is an MM tuned .22 from 2007, with the 1100psi regulator it gets near 800fps with 14.3 cphp. If you can run it on air, its a much better experience.

I'd love to have the HPA option at some point, but the closest scuba shop is almost 2hrs from here. Any other places offer HPA fills and whats the price range? I kinda like that I can get co2 tanks filled for $2.99 20min from my house. lol With that 1100psi/800fps how many shots do ya get per fill typically?
Also, Fritzalee. You wouldn't happen to have a picture of that spacer setup you described would ya?

Shane, I bought 2 3.5oz co2 tanks from mac1 if I remember correctly. They have a valve with an on/off already built in so the pressure is taken off the valve for ease of replacement. He guaranteed them to fit my 79 at the time. I don't know if he still carries them or not but it might be worth a try. I didn't like the 9oz bottle on the front of the gun as much as I liked the 3.5oz.

I'll have to check into that Joe, thanks! I like the idea of having a valve pre-installed.

Paul, you have to look for them. Sometimes the pball shops ave in the used area but they go really fast. I've found them on eBay. I have several and they're gold. First because the fit my QBs. Second is any cylinder under 2" never needs a hydro. That's why you can't find them.
I'll check mine for manufacturer.

You could always buy a 13ci HPA tank and run it on CO2 until you pick up a pump. The Ninja and Gorilla fit just fine on my QB. The O-rings may need replaced depending on what they come with and they are about 2X the price but it is an option...

i called a local paint ball store and told them i was looking for the older/smaller diameter 9 oz PB tanks and what i was gonna use them for and that it needed to be 2 inches or smaller , that even 2 1/16 wasn't gonna fit . he said he had about a dozen that he would sell me for $10 each . i asked if he would take 25 for 3 and he said yes . i asked how much to fill them and he said $2.50 , and that he fills each free when he sells them .
YMMV
