Am really going to have to test that chronograph, even though it’s the same one I have been using. Got no reason to be suspicious of the chronograph, everything else is where I expect it to be.
Disco / 2K-1K / 14.66 gr. pellets (H&N FTT)
That’s too good. Have to figure out what’s-what here, check the chronograph against a few other guns, reshoot a few times, and see what it would do with heavier pellets.
Is what I’ve been trying to do with this Discovery for a 4 years, coming close a few times, but not really getting it all together.
OK not to believe. I hesitated to post this for the same reason: it’s too good. I just can’t find a fault with the chronograph.

dude, chill
you've been trying to perfect that gun's tune for so long, now you got it. if you have not reason to suspect a chrony malfunction, just be happy & leave it be. prefer to start over from scratch
be careful lookin in that gift horse's mouth. that's where the teeth are, & horses do bite sometimes

Hmmmmmmmm.... 45 shots @ 18.4 FPE (I used 750 for an average)= 826 FPE.... Pressure drop over those 45 about 900 psi? / 14.5 = 62 bar x 8.2CI = 509 CI?.... Looks like 1.62 FPE/CI.... I'd be scratching my head too, but grinning from ear to ear....

All I did from the last outing was increase the spring preload by 2/3 a turn, which got it running right closer to 2K. Was thinking it should increase in energy, but that I'd lose some shot count...but it gained.

Just think, if your chrony is broke, how many guns will have to come out of the closet and recheck their shot strings?
Is it easy to "believe" now?

This is what I know that is NOT in the Discovery. There is no anti-bounce device. There is no bstaley o-ring set. The valve is not been touched other than to replace an o-ring.
The original spring, a spring guide, and a power adjuster (which isn’t visible as it adjust by way of a headless screw thought the supplied threaded end cap hole). The striker has been lightened a bit (doen to 44.5 grams). There is a smaller transfer port, which I think is at .105” (or something close to that). Has been in use for about 4 years, with a few take-downs and cleanings ( try for once a year, but probably it’s more like once every year and a half).
Broke out an old SSP rifle that has always shot at 585-590fps. got an average of 588fps. I don't think the chronograph is broken.
Tested it 3 more times (different weight pellet each time):
Whoo-Hoo! Got to 50 shots.
1. Turns out the 14.6gr. FTT's might be a little large in diameter (5.54mm).
2. It likes heavy pellets.
3. The increase in 2% sweet spot is probably more of an indication than the 4% sweet spot.

Just to be sure, there is a new chronograph on the way.
HOPEFULLY the new and old will agree, as I've some plans for getting two different range readings per shot.

You're going to start doing your own BC testing, aren't you?

Don't touch it Ribbon, just shoot it till it breaks...then touch it all you want.
If you DO touch it, it will break or become so sporadic you'll be happy with an 11% spread after all the frustration.

Yeah...really hasn't been a lot of lower muzzle speed tests.
