1720T regulated or double tube?

My 1720T shoots better than I can but I would like to get as close to 12 FPE as I can. My shot count will probably be low so would it be better to regulate the gun or go with the Disco double tube. I could do both but funds will not support that, right now
. Also will the double tube be legal in pistol hunter field target. Thanks, Don

Getting near 12 ft lbs is going to really require some air use ... the small air tube these pistols have won't give a lot of shots sadly at that power.
Regulated certainly can get you consistency, but at a HUGE loss in storage volume being 12# needs more plenum volume than just a hogged out valve and gauge manifold can give. Would require spacing Regulator further forward into the tube.
My 1701/1720 converted & regulated w/ LW hammer delivers a solid 45 shot at @ 9 ft lbs ...in all likelihood bump this to 12# with the reg reposition and more flow you will be lucky to have 25 shots if that
See no legality issues with a double tube in PFT .

FWIW: I have a 1720T configured as a carbine with the Prod double tube. I get 53 shots @ 15fpe. Also using BHB w/TP 0.110" and heavier hammer spring and 3K fill. I have the steel tube which has a few more cc of volume than the alum one, which is probably what you would want for pistol use (lighter). You can't use a reg with the Prod double tube because of the use of the gauge port. I think Lloyd was looking at making one like the disco, so a reg could be used.
