Know it's over cautious, but it's the little things that you figure don't matter that turn around and bite you.Have run a PCP tube as a .177, then as a .22, a little test with the upper half of a 5mm, and settled on a .25. Not really sure how fast the .177 could go, most of my effort was spend backing it down to sub-sonic speeds in order to actually hit something.
If you have the tube on it one easy way to check if it is degassed is to try to unscrew the tube by hand. With any pressure in it you will be unable to do so, with no pressure it will be quite easy.
