Thanks for your reply. The problem is that as I mentioned before, I live in Honduras, so I can't order the rifle and have it shipped here like I normally do with other stuff, because it's a rifle and it will be retained in customs for security reasons. I have to buy it locally, and the only options available here are some Daisy/Winchester and Crosman/Benjamin models.
For your purposes you might want to investigate a multi pump airgun. They are easier to shoot than the spring powered variety as they don't have the piston's weight moving around during the shot cycle. If you go that route be sure to get a rifled one.You can pump it the number of times you wish to control the power of the shot - maximum is ten or twelve strokes. They are generally quite reliable.
I went ahead and bought the Benjamin Titan NP .177. I just finished cleaning the barrel and assembling the scope, and I will begin shooting it for the first time right now.
Hello, I have the Titan NP and have not had any trouble with it. I got it as a refub and have around 500 shots thru it. I did change to a brass barrel bushings and changed the trigger and different scope. Other then that seems solid.Don
Hi jcisne. I just saw your thread this evening but I wanted to say that I'm glad you got the Titan and not the Phantom. That version of the Phantom (CS177A) seems to be more problematic and uses all different parts that the Titan, which shares many parts with the other Crosman and Benjamin guns.If you're at all mechanically inclined it's probably worth your time to read some of the "how to" articles here and make a few modifications to your gun. A few things should help with both accuracy and longevity. Look for threads on muzzle crowning, breech washers, "lube tuning" and deburring to start. Probably the best single thing you can do (in my opinion) is the brass breech washer modification. Also, be suspicious of the scope if you have accuracy problems! I went crazy trying to get my Trail shooting well only to discover the scope was bad and the POA was moving every shot. I discovered this by making improvised "iron" sights which gave me MUCH better groups. Check the Library for tuning information also. http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?action=library
Thank you, I will search for the muzzle crowning, breech washers, lube tuning and deburring threads.I've also read here that the trigger upgrade is very popular too. Do you know which if the CDT triggers is the one that fits the Titan NP?I'm already looking for a scope upgrade, it's probably the first upgrade I'll do. Scope recomendations are welcomed.
