Installing RB Grips on a 1377

Hi everyone,
Just joined this forum and this is my first post, so go easy on me. Anyway, I just received a set of grips from RB Grips for a 1377 that I am modifying. Installing the forearm grip looks pretty straight forward, tap out the old pins, remove plastic forearm, install the new one, tap pins, etc. Just want to check with those of you who may have done this before if there any special tips or suggestions that I should consider when doing the installation of the forearm? I am particularly concerned about damaging the wood as I tap in the new brass pins since the fit is pretty tight (I suspect I will have to hit the pin hard fairly hard with the punch.)
Thanks in advance for your help!

If you have access to a belt sander or grinder you might try putting a good size chamfer on the side of the pin you'll be inserting
first, if the pin doesn't already have one. Can do the same with a file. Can also take a good thick piece of cardboard, or fold over a thin piece, poke a hole about the same size as the pin in the middle and cover the wood with the holes lined up so if you're punch slips the wood's protected.

I installed a set of RB Grips on my 1377, no big deal, very easy. Pins drive out with moderate effort and reinstall with the same effort. Just take your time and go easy. Very straight forward, no big secret. You will not have a problem.
