Two questions. If this is the wrong place to ask just tell me the right place. Best pellet for it in .177?Most useful modification?
"Most useful modification?" every single Human is different. Might be the stock? Pretty long LOP.Download the "Book" and give it some thought.John
Before we answer we're going to ask you some questions What are your intended uses:target, pests, competition, plinking.and at what range do you want to do those thingsbackyard 15-30yds or longer 50-75yds or long range 100ydsand if hunting what will you be hunting. That will help people give suggestions Joseph
it is shooting 10.3 jsb pellets at 812 fps +or minus 11 fps for a total shot count of 36 shots. that is on a 1650 psi fill. And from the bench it will print 1/2 groups at 45 yards all day long. Farthest recorded kill on a squirrel was 62 yards headshot. starlings go down way pass 70 yards.
You only need 12fpe to take rabbits at 50 yards if you can do your part (that's not something I read, I commonly hunt with a 11.9fpe rifle).I think you will like your Bam however the shot count at 30fpe will not be too high, sorry I can not recall what mine did at that power lever, I know I only got 10 shots within 7fps ES at 40fpe.John
no break in period. think of a pcp as a air pump. what ever adjustment is going to have a power/economy/noise relationship. if you lower the tension on the hammer it will lock up the valve as the hammer will not have enough energy to open the valve. but dont worry, just open the back of the gun and tap the hammer with a small hammer (easy)to get some air out and lower the pressure. when you make an adjustment you should have a chrony and fill gauge that will allow you to chart the power per psi. start at something conservative (say 1k psi) and then add 100 psi more, check chrony. add 100 more, check chrony (only about 2 shots every check), and so on and so forth. eventually you will see speed increasing, then steadying and then decreasing again(valve lock approaching). Mine locks up at 1800 psi. tap it 2 times with a small ballpeen hammer and i was at a little over 1700 psi... shot it and run a 316 fps, next shot 360, next 499, and kept shooting till i got to near the numbers i had that were highest on the chart... and keep counting shots. when you get to the highest velocity in the chart count back how many shots you deem acceptable (in my case i did 15 fps below my highest velocity, and like that i figured out how many shots i had by multiplying by 2. (I know there is some consistent shots in the peak of the power curve, but you can figure those outs by reaching your peak and seen how many shots it holds. My gun will give me 14 shots from 805 to 820, 8 around 820 (+-2) and 14 back to 805. that entire string will fit inside a penny at 35 yards from the bench. But this is my gun, and every setup is a bit different... the best way to find out is just to go for it and buy one.
