Well I appreciate everyones input. I think the consensus is just to have two guns. I'm thinking lightly modded Condor for now and maybe a Prod a few months down the line.Joe: I really had my heart set on a Condor, so I looked on Airforce's website today and they listed a bunch of blem models so I went a head and pulled the trigger on one. Got a .25 Condor for $585 shipped. I plan on duracoating the rifle so I'm happy to save the $100, pretty much pays for my R&L shroud .Whatsquirrel: Thanks for the input on the Rat slugs. I do plan on quite a bit of hogging with the gun as its open season on the things here in Texas. Playing around with the Chair Gun app it looks like if I could get one of those 45gr Rat slugs up in the 950fps range it would still be traveling at 800ish fps at 100yrds and delivering over 60ft.lbs. of energy. Should be plenty for smaller hogs with good shot placement Anyways, again I do appreciate everyones input. Can't wait to get my gun and a few mods!!!

I've had them there & beyond. But it's a it's rapid drop in velocity after that. If I remember correctly one of my shot strings was 965,958,949,947,935,922. I haveup trying to get a curve at that power level. Right now I have it tunes to 858-865-852 for 8 shots. That's the best so far, I just ordered some more of the 45gr snipers today. Then I'll Play around some more to see if I can get a full power tune for @ 80-85 fpe. If you get a tune running g that pm me & let me know yoursetttings if you would. Pigs are the whole reason I got my condor ss & build my talador, since I live here in Texas also & they run rampid on my place.
Sorry about that.1st, i have shot pellets in my 257 but unfortunately, it was too windy to get a grasp of the accuracy. And i haven't tried it since. But even on powerwheel 0 in my gun, it pushes 31 gr 25 cal Kodiaks at 900 fps and climbs every shot afterwards for a loooooong ways.....lol!2nd, i want to say, if you live in suburbia, even low powered bullets shooters are not a good idea. I actually don't believe to much in shooting TODAYS airguns with pellets in the back yard either. They are more powerful than the guns of old and the cals are bigger with heavier pellets but, that's just me. Now, if you live on your own private property and you have some pecan or pine trees and you don't need 1050 fps from a 75 gr FP bullet to kill a squirrel, a 257 condor can still be versatile. The 257 in Condor for can perform great tasks which i haven't really talked about. But because the AF guns have powerwheels, if your gun is SET UP properly, the powerwheel will actually do what its supposed to. I say this cause there are many airforce guns set up to shoot MAX power on powerwheel 0. Nothing wrong with this if ALL OUT POWER is wanted at ALL TIMES. My 257 though can be turned Down and Up the way its supposed to be. For giggles one day, i decided to test my gun at different fill pressures and different PW settings. Here is what i got. And remember, this gun is NOT set up to produce SUPERTIGHT LOW SPEED NUMBERS. Its a powerhouse more than it is a powerpuff shooter. But you will get the point:0 powerwheel setting-3100 psi Fill w/75 gr FP:shot 1 = 700 fpsshot 20 = 771 fpsand YES, there is a ton of shots left to be honest. Like a small bore. But you guys get the point. And no, i did not keep shooting past 20 shots cause i will never really use the gun at this setting. I just wanted a base1-8 PW setting-3200 psi Fill w/75 gr FP:shot 1 = 771 fpsshot 20 = 947 fpslol, as you can see, the numbers just kept climbing and shot 21 was about 960 fps....lol. Again, this gun NOR my attempts where to find the most consistency. This shows me that there is a TON of room for fine tuning if i ever choose to shoot something like 800 or 850 fps for 30 shots or something. I also have yet to shoot at these setting at only 3000 psi either. So there is still more testing past all these numbers that i can try.2-8 PW setting-3200 psi Fill w/75 gr FP:shot 1 = 865 fpsshot 10 = 959 fpsobviously, as the powerwheel setting increases, the numbers get tighter. But if you where interested in plinking or shooting game with less power, these numbers give you a very ROUGH idea that it can be done with a 180 FPE gun.3-8 PW setting-3200 psi Fill w/75 gr FP:shot 1 = 985 fpsshot 10 = 997 fps998 fps was the fastest which was shot 54-8 PW setting-3200 psi Fill w/75 gr FP:shot 1 = 1013 fpsshot 5 = 1017 fps1018 fps was the fastest which was shot 2.4-8 PW setting-3200 psi Fill w/101 gr FP:shot 1 = 883 fpsshot 2 = 889 fpsshot 3 = 891 fpsshot 4 = 892 fpsshot 5 = 881 fpsYEAH, BY THIS TIME, IN MY GARAGE, I THOUGHT THE POLICE WERE GONNA SHOW UP..........SO I STOPPED TESTING.4-8 pw setting give the best power for ALL bullet weights at 3200. Another 100 psi and one more revo on the PW and i get more power but the shots drops OFF per shot so 4-8 is the best setting but not the most powerful. With more testing, i could easily find the sweet spot for the most LOWER powered shots then simply fill to 3200 psi and set the PW on 4-8 and reach out to 450 yards. So, yeah, you CAN plink and hunt small game with a Condor 257 then turn about face and shoot clear to the other side of your property but, AND I SAY BUT, with slugs, if your gonna turn the power down to something like 800 fps or 900 fps with slugs and shoot squirrels, you might as well stick to pellet shooters and shooting pelletsI would simply buy 2 guns. 1 for long range and the other for plinking and hunting squirrels up close.

I really wasn't aware that so much tuning could be done from just the power wheel. I don't know why but it seems that most owners just set it on max power and just leave it. But I think you're right, to go from 30yrd squirrel gun with pellets to 100yard hog gun heavy slugs is just asking too much from one gun. I suspect before too long my new Condor is going to have a shiny new .257 barrel and big 'ol valve in it, but until then I'll just enjoy it for what it is. BTW I love your videos man! I think I've watched every one, I must admit watching some of your long range shooting with your TalonDor 257 is what inspired my question in the first place. Thanks again!
