I just got back from my local Wal-Mart. They have a couple of these rifles in stock. I thought they used to carry them then clearenced them off right before they got the Titans. Well there was no visible price so i asked the guy what the price was. $98.00 So are those guns any good? At that price, would be considered an ok, good or great buy? Anybody got any feedback? Do any of you who own them ever switch the barrels or do you leave one or the other on?

Yes worth the money. Trigger is OK and a little hard to cock ,but good power. I bought one for my wife and it shoots very well. It came with a 3x9x32 scope that works nice too.

this model is apparently discontinued. read some reviews about it here. sounds like a pretty good deal.
the msrp is around 120.00, and the cheapest that i found it was 111.79 so 98.00 is a pretty good deal.
i don't suspect that the one you are looking at at wallymart comes like this one in the link with the case and all, but i posted it so you could read the reviews on the rifle...good luck

I own one Nathan an my son as well for about 6 month's now, I was lucky an when Wally's was clearing them out here in Ohio I got it for $54(or something like that). Great gun with a trigger that can actually be adjusted to a very good pull. I did after awhile stick with the .22 barrel as it seemed more acc. an I have never had the problem of the set screw coming loose as some do(no loc-tite) fit an finsh is very good for the price but of course the scope was only so so on it so it now has a CP 3x9 an a one piece mount. I guess I'd say good gun for the price for sure. If you pick it up let me know as I have a pdf on the trigger.

Also was just looking at this gun at local wally world. How loud is it, compared to a whisper or npss?

There should be posts on this in the old GTA library. A lot of guys seem to go with the .22 barrel, only.

I love mine.... its a powerhouse for sure..... in .177 its pushing 7.9 grain CPHP's at 954 FPS AVG.... I too am thinking of swapping over to the .22 barrel though.... while it IS a tack driver in .177 it seems to be pretty hold sensitive and has a bit of recoil to it... and it seems the .22 barrel really smooths her out from what alot of peoples experiance seem to show.....
(BTW once she is ranged in she doesnt have any problems knocking the heck out of cans at 130 yards

If I recall, the gun had a 4X32 scope, but I could be wrong. I'm pretty sure (almost positive) that it was non-AO based on the picture on the box.

Yep, I think the scope is a non-AO Beeman 4x32mm scope. Not a bad piece of glass. I'm still liking my Beeman M-1073 (RS2). In .22 it pushed a 14.3gr Crosman domes Magnum out at an average of 735FPS. Nice quality rifle. No issues so far. Seems pretty easy to cock as time goes on, and it does seem smoother with the .22 barrel on, but it's just fine for me with the .177 barrel in there. Like Jay I've never had the barrels loosen up.

Saw them at my local Super Wally, only 1 in stock, for $98 as well. ALMOST had the wife talked into it...meaning, I picked it up and she gave me a sympathetic/half disgusted look and I put it back.

Hi Jonesin,
You have my sympathies.
I stand a better chance of staring down a rabid grizzly than surviving the withering gaze from my wife when she thinks I "don't need another one". Yes, I wear the pants in my family: "Honey, are these OK?"
Otherwise it seems the Model 1073 is showing a resurgence on these forums. That can't be bad.

She understands my addiction. She did say "Christmas is coming" after I limped out of the aisle like a beat dog. Actually, it's not on the list I sent her back in August (my birthday list) which I think she still has but she got me a combo gas/charcoal grill which I probably get more use out of during the warmer months.
