Thanks to member Badgerfarm, I found a 400 for sale listed at 90%. Immediately jumped on it! Took a few emails and about a week too ship. Safety appears to be stuck "off" which isn't a big deal and the detent ball/spring that holds the magazine in place is stuck or broke. Other than that, its mint considering its 50+/- years old!
Tested it with a single 12gram and a few CPHPs at about 5yrds (garage is too full atm) and 5 outta 6 shots single-holed the bullseye! Not enough light to set up the chrony, but from the sound and impact, I'd say it's up to par.
Anyone have any idea what size spring I could use for the detent ball? Going to have to take a second look at it to figure out how to even reach it. It was a pain holding the spring-loaded magazine in place while cocking and firing it. Lol
So happy to have a 400 of my own, love the mechanics and simplicity of this thing! I'll have to post some pictures next week when things calm down.
Thanks again Badgerfarm for the tip!
