For those that know me, I'm always looking for that "extra" performance out of most anything I have. Well, my 470TH is no exception, and while I have been more than happy with it, I knew someday I would be installing a Vortek kit in it. Now, in stock form, this gun was launching CPs (it's favorite food) at 865fps. Not bad, but with a .050 shim, it gave 885fps! Better.....but I knew there was more to be had.
Enter Tom Gore with one of his 460 kits. Much, much smoother, twangless shot cycle (typical of Vortek), but a bit lower in velocity than I was getting. Hmmmm.......Tom & I discussed this at length, and he sent a revised (for the 470) kit with a heavier wire spring. Holy &^^&, Batman......his new kit launches CPs at 900+ fps and still has that smooth, solid, twangless shot cycle Vortek is so famous for! Not only that, but the installation was so easy, a Caveman could do it! No modifications whatsoever, no spring compressor, no special tools, NADDA! Takes all of 5 minutes for me to install and be shooting again! This, my friends, is now a 25 FPE+ air rifle with superb accuracy! To say I'm more than happy is a gross understatement!
One thing Tom and I discussed is the lack of input from owners of 460s and 470s on how their guns were shooting, or what their likes and dislikes are. We all know these are Magnum springers, which usually require more effort to cock than "standard" springers. Are you satisfied with the effort to power ratio? Would you opt for a bit more cocking force for substantial increase in power and smoothness? Do you want to de-tune your 460 or 470 to allow easier cocking? Let's hear it......inquisitive minds need to know! Please post here, or contact Tom at Vortek.

Man i can't believe i haven't found this sooner. Barely come to his gate.
I have a vortek kit in my 470 also. Man it is unbeleivable. I sent vortek the link to my review that i put here and also some video o 65 yard shooting with it. These 470's are some awesome guns then you throw in the vortek kit and its just insane. I would not change a thing.

Depends on the spring rate....in stock form they cock right around 35 lbs.
