The scope and rings on my 2100 are positioned as such that my left hand straddles the scope directly over its mounting ring, fingers relaxed, pushing the ring with palm of my hand, i've also developed a stealth pumping method from when i was young boy, I grasp the pump arm at the very bottom and leave my pinky and ring finger free until the pump handle closes at which time I use that part of my hand to cushion to slap, fingers hit receiver and act as a stop, no pump slap sound.
Why don't you try a compact scope? I got a NcStar 4x30 compact tactical scope from midway. It was only 20 bucks. The reason I had bought it was to take some of the weight off the QB78. I had a full size scope on it and between the weight of rifle and scope I mind as well been carrying a real rifle at that point. I haven't put it on any of my pumpers, but it could be short enough to solve the issue of being to far forward for pumping. As u can see in the pic of the QB if it was a pumper there is that room after the scope and before the rear sight.
