Sam Yang Recluse .357 & Speer Bird Shot Capsule using BuckShot

Got my .357 Speer Shot Capsules and decided to load some shot in one and see what it would do out of my Sam Yang Recluse .357, well I didn't have any shot or shot shells, so my son had a 20 ga shell with some #3 Buckshot in it, so I proceeded to open it up and take out the 20 pellets in it.
I could only get 4 of the #3 buckshot in a capsule and then it would not load through the breech as being they are a little too long, so I rammed the shot capsule with 4 pellets down the barrel with a ram rod. I then took a large box and set it in front of a 55 gal. barrel and put a dot on it. Stepped off 15 yards and fired a shot on high. Not bad, it went through both sides of the box and through one side of the steel barrel, the spread was 17 inches.
Can’t wait to try these out using small bird shot say #8 or 7-1/2. If the buckshot only spread 17” at 15 yards, I bet the birdshot will be a good pest killer at 10 yards. We shall soon find out!
If you use the Speer Shot Capsules in a Recluse you need to load them down the muzzle like a muzzle loader (make darn sure it is not coked) with the chamber sleeve open so you can tell when you are at the chamber of the barrel.
If you want to load them through the breech you need to cut them a little shorter with a Dremel, Say down to .8 tenths of an inch, then the total length will be about .9 tenths of an inch.
By shortening them I get only 3 #3 buckshot in a Speer shot capsule. Need some shot to see how many pellets of #8 I can get in one!
I will get me some bird shot and post the results so we can see what they do.
A little demo I just couldn't resist
