Removal of link pin For strap attachment

I had my gun secured in a towel in a vice and was trying to tap out the link pink that holds the front strap swivel, and I could not get it out without risking damage to the gun. Would anyone know if this would require heat from a torch, or any method that might work to remove the link pin and upon reassembling the link pin would I need some type of lock tight to secure the pin? below is a picture of the part that I am referring to as the swivel strap attachment, it is also number 19 on the exploded view of the trail.

I had to do that, I just took a punch to make a small dent in the very center of the pin.
I drilled it down about 1/16 inch and then took a flat punch to drive it out.
Just lay the breech block on something solid with a recess to accept the pin's other side as it is driven out.
I didn't have a helper to hold the barrel so that the breech was flush against my anvil setup, just stuck a shop rag under it to hold it while I drove the pin out.
The pin is soft, at least on the peened end that the factory used to hammer it flat.
I replaced it with a factory pin, I think all small parts from Crosman are a $1.15.
I put the replacement pin in and then hammered it flat.
( be sure to check you have the cocking foot on in the right direction, I almost put mine together backwards.
Hope this helps,
Mark

Do I tap it out from the flat side or the one with the small dent in it?

Yep,
I just mic'd the old pin, it is .197 inch diameter.
I used a 5/32 inch punch. You could even get away using a 3/16 inch punch and be OK.
I just used a 1/8 inch drill, wasn't sure how big the pin was. If you center punch it good, meaning centered, a 3/16 inch bit drilled in 1/16 should do it.
If you don't have a punch set I've used concrete nails ground flat. concrete nails are tougher than dragons teeth, come in handy for specialized punches / tools and the like.
Take care,

But the side that already has a dip in it looks smaller than the flat side that's why I tried tapping it on the dipped side and it didn't budge?

It will take a bit of a hit to get it to move / begin to shear free.
Takes a pretty good hit with the standard 1 lb hammer.

Scotty,
Did you get that pin out?
I'll try again to post some pics, everytime I try they are too large,
here goes,
There is one of the pin laying on its side and one looking at the end where i punched it out.
I also attached one of the new pin installed, I had to hammer it pretty good to get it flat,
I set the breach with the pin installed on my heavy anvil and beat it flat.
I did the work with the barrel/breach assy removed from the gun.
Take care,
