Title: Evanix Rainstorm
Post by: twigstoy on December 12, 2011, 12:43:05 AM
I have decided to turn to the dark side... I am looking at the Evanix Rainstorm. My question is.. 1) Can I use a pump with this rifle to start out with? 2) Which pump? 3) Is this a decent rifle for $659.00? 4) Any better suggestions for this price range? I am looking for a good hunting rifle..

Yes you can pump the rifle up.  I would get one of the higher end pumps like the Hill.  It's a GREAT rifle for the price range and you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer looking or shooting gun for that price

Fantastic Rifle,...get a Hill pump, you'll love both :)

Excellent gun. Handles so much better than the Marauder it replaced. I hand pump, and use a Benji and a FX 4 stage and the FX does a better job, so the extra expense will equal an easier experience.

I love my Rainstorm.  Hard hitter and very accurate with the heavier pellets.

Can't go wrong with that rifle

As for pumps since it will require A LOT of pumping id go for the fx 4 stage pump.. you can select 3 or 4 stages with that pump.. 3 stage will fill faster but require more effort in pumping as the psi increases.. 4 stage will take more pumps then 3 stages but the pumping will require less effort at the same psi as when its set to 3 stages..

A hill pump is 3 stages and is a darn good pump..I'm not 100% but I think hill makes the fx pumps..

I purchased my Rainstorm, sent it to Will Piatt to be tuned it https://sites.google.com/site/saddlemountaingunsmith/home and I just love it.The Rainstorm has great accuracy, very powerfull and handles very nicely. Sold my MRod and do not miss it at all.
I reccommend the Rainstorm to anyone trying to decide on their first PCP

Does the Hill Or FX pump clamp right on, or do I need to buy an adapter? Anything else I need?

The Probe that comes with the rifle screws into the pump, nothing else needed

Don't know if its the same that you are hearing, but Will Piatt improves the stock baffles.
I also sent my gun to Will, and am very glad I did.  That guy does great work.

Thanks for the helpful replies... One other question.... Does it matter if I get the long or short version? I am ready to pull the TRIGGER!!!

On the Rainstorm there's only one official version, however they have being coming out with shorter and longer shrouds, the longer obiously will be more quiet

pull that trigger, I sure miss my Rainstorm, if I get extra cash I'll get one again :)

Ok, I have seen where some companies have one they call the long version.. Just double checking so I don't make a mistake.. That's alot of coins.

I know that PA has the short carbine version, which is what I got. I love mine and it is deadly accurate. The long version has a longer shroud to make it quieter. Mine after being tuned by Will Piatt to 47 FPE is a bit loud but still neighbor friendly. Wanting to make it quieter I added a TKO to it.
No matter which way you go I am sure you will be a happy shooter
