Hey everyone, just got my new XL 1100 delivered on Saturday, I have spent a lot time here reading and learning about air rifles so I could get the biggest BANG for my buck and I think the XL 1100 is going be great start on my new hobby ( I think I need one or two more). The stock and bluing looked really good, very smooth at the top and bottom of the thumb hold and no bluing defects that I can see so I hope she’s a good shooter. My last AF was a Winchester 416 .177 starter rifle my parents bought me in 1967 which I still have and it still shots (may have to Chrony the bad boy) . There is a boat load of info here on just about everything on AF’s and I thank you guys for your time spent here helping others, you could be doing something else, any how I do have a couple questions. After I did the Goo Gone cleaning, when should I expect the dieseling to stop?, there was some smoke at the first 10 shots and now at 70 shots I see a little and sometime none but it’s still there and are the Dynamic Sn 2 tin pellets at 12.85 to light for this rifle and would they damage the piston seal? And should I clean the barrel again?
Okay I had time today to Chrony her and doesn’t look to good. I fired about 70 shots then I setup the F-1 here’s what I got:
JSB RS 13.43: L=715 H=732 A=724 @ 10 Shots
CPHP 14.3: L=743 H=766 A=757 @ 10 Shots
JSB EXT 15.9: L=667 H=675 A 670 @ 10 Shots
Dynamic Sn 2 Tin 12.85: L=798 H=830 A 816 @ 5 Shots (just for the *(&^ of it)
The grouping wasn’t too bad, some of it was the trigger and me, but I did get some a quarter size groups at 20 yards. So after 110 shots I still see smoke and with these low numbers I guess piston seal must be defective. It didn’t cost me anything to exchange it so I have a return on the way. Maybe the next one will be better, if not time to tear it down and tune.

Hey Mack and welcome to GTA Forums. Glad you found us and joined up. Congrats on the XL. It's a big, heavy gun but a nail driving beast once you get it tamed. From your Chrony results, I'd say you have a seal issue for sure. The dieseling along with only 16+ fpe tells a tale. The XL1100 should put out close to 26fpe. Mine likes H&N Crow Magnum's (18.21gr) and pumps out around 27fpe. It's best to stick with heavier ammo with these guns. It helps slow the shot down and should give better accuracy and more energy down range.
Let's hope the replacement has better numbers and dieseling stops after a few shots. Keep us informed. And post pictures, we like to see and hear of your AG adventures.
Happy Shooting!!!!
