I just missed on a used Daisy 717 for $40 is there anyone who has tried or owns both it and the p17...which seems more durable and is accuracy comparable etc...

I never looked at the P17 before yesterday but I checked out a couple of youtube videos and it looks like you couldn't fully open it with that barrel and LDC on there. Obviously that isn't the case but are there any other mads that need to be done other than adding the longer barrel? Mods for it to function, not optionals. I'd appreciate a good thread link or two!

Here's a long thread, but near the end is where you will find info about the gun.http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=49115.0
The P17 showed up today. Really impressed opening the package, bigger then I expected. Close to the same weight and overall size as my Rugar SR9c. I ran a few patches down the barrel and got all the gunk out. Put a fresh target in the pellet trap and cut loose. It took a little longer then I expected to get the red dot dialed in. But once there I was pleased. Shooting freehand from about 12 feet I was getting decent groupings, maybe a quarter size. Definitely not shooting in the same hole, but as I said I was shooting unsupported. Not bad for an old man if you ask me. I then put my spoon spinners on top of my fence. Set my butt down in a chair and set the spoons to spinning! I did not expect much from the cheap red dot.......its nice to get a surprise once in a while, it is really nice. So my overall first impression is "what a great little pistol!". If you don't already own one cough up $50.00 and get one. You are missing out.
the only difference between the 777 and the 717 is a LW barrel , metal sights and those clunky grips. the 777 shoots better than i could ever, so i had a 717 and it still shot better than me. I like the 717 better than a p17 because of its power adjustability and trigger adjustability. but the P17 is a great pistol. accurate, quiet and accurate. the alecto is something i like to try...
