Two, 7 - shot groups at 50 yds , from my field pod of course...Got a new Nikko 4-16x50 scope and had to get it ready for some predator hunting. I've got a few tins of JSB's so, that's what I used...I'm not gonna touch a thing. I'm ready!

I've got a few tins of JSB's so, that's what I used...I'm not gonna touch a thing. I'm ready! Hehe... What are you planning on hunting primarily? 140 fpe gives you quite a bit of latitude from what I gather from scouring the web... and much more than the "experts" insist is necessary it appears, but to me accuracy is what dictates the shot. You certainly have acceptable accuracy for hunting it would appear to me. With what I've seen of the 25 caliber and also hunting with 22 caliber for sheep with fpe far less than your recluse I'd fairly confident with your gun even on larger animals such as pigs and deer. I'm still looking forward to my first opportunity on game with my gun but I was doing some comparisons of what I was able to scrape together on the web on what people were shooting game with. Pests and predators of all sorts have almost daily been harvested with calibers from .177 to .357. Larger game, though, and here I'm talking about animals such as peccary, sheep, and deer are being taken with the .25 and the .357. So I was curious about the reluctance for airgun "gurus" to proclaim the .357 a big game caliber especially since quite a number of African game had been taken with the.357 as have white tail deer and pigs of all stripes. So I did a comparison and I interjected a formula used by the great John "Pondero" Taylor that he used for what he called "knockdown" ability of certain bullets for taking dangerous game. I won't embarrass myself with a comparison of a .357 caliber air caliber to a .375 H&H or a Rigby double but the formula does open up ones eyes to the effectiveness (like momentum) to dropping game. We use FPE with airguns and I think that this a shame since FPE is only one criteria of bullet effectiveness. Anyway, here are some comparisons to your use of the 81 grain pellet and the knowledge that head shot deer, sheep, and pigs have been dropped with 25 caliber Sumatra's and Marauders as well as .22's. African game and deer are dropped routinely with the .357 typically with heavier conicals such as the Nosler 145 grain Ballistic Tip though heart lung applications of shot placement...
