New guy here, first AG purchase: 2289G Backpacker
I've been reading and learning, mostly about what needs to be done to the 2289 for durability purposes and here is the plan for tomorrow:
partially disassemble the 2289G and replace the plastic breech with the Crosman 2240 steel breech
since I lose the rear sight with that mod, add the Crosman LPA MIM rear sight....
I've been searching for an option for a sling on the 2289G and finally decided on a Levy's Leathers sling, from Straight Shooters; it'll be here next week....
any suggestions or tips before I begin?
-
and we're done.....
lessons learned:
don't expect the instructions to be as complete as a newb may need; go slowly, read and re-read and make sure that you don't have extra parts leftover....
and the new sight came with no install instructions, so I got to wing it on it's installation....
overall:
I only had to disassemble it once to get it all together properly - the steel sleeve between the barrel and the pressure tube wasn't seated properly and showed up in the breech while test-firing.... OOPS!
the steel breech kit is nice! it gives the 2289G the finishing touch as far as a basic AG....
now to fire a few hundred pellets through it and dial in my accuracy....

couldn't take it anymore with parts just sitting here, waiting to be installed:

excellent fit and finish from BlueFork Designs (barrel band) and HPA Sports (muzzle brake)....

red fiber-optic front sight makes it that much easier to pick out....
I wanted to thank Joe at HPA Sports for the excellent service - he was quick to answer any and all my questions and shipped my parts amazingly quick....
