The plot thickens. I just came home and there was a slip for a packet that I need to sign for from England! It is my regulator, but I won't get it until tomorrow. Either way, I am impressed how fast it made it here. I paid for it one week ago and here it is, half a world away. So far, Robert Lane has made a very positive impression, I will hope his product continues that. Now all I need is those Piledriver pellets to get here and it will be time to play.

Well, the Piledriver pellets came in
.... however there is a problem. I loaded a few up and I fired one into a roll of denim, something didn't seem right, so I fired another. It never left the gun??? I shook it and some kind of material came out of the muzzle. I have no idea what it is, looking into the LDC, I can't see any damage and whoever built it has it sealed. I will try to reinstall it and give it another try.

I have the exact same gun, out the box it was shooting hot but also accurate with jsb 10.34 and cp domes 10.5 and eunjun 16gr my main issue was the sound and shot count and that declining shot string.
ended up sending it to WP who installed a audrius reg, upgraded the trigger, shroud and baffles.
it came back extremely quiet, and velocity and shot count much better.
let me know how that reg works out for you, I'm interested in getting one to play with.

grobe,
The one he is shipping now is his MK7 Lancet design and is adjustable up to 150bar. I requested mine to be set at the max since I don't want to neuter the gun any more than I have to, since the issue was occasionally it would go supersonic and the previous owner was struggling with accuracy because of that. As I continue to clean my workbench, I will try to carve out enough room to disassemble the rifle and get the regulator in. BTW, out of curiosity, I fired one round without the shroud and LDC, YIKES!!! that sucker is louder than a .22 rifle.

loud is an understatement, when I first pulled the trigger on mine, I was sending an email to WP the same night. out the box this is what it was doing with jsb's.couldn't shoot it outside so best I could do is 20 yards in the house when no one was home and 10 yards in my man cave.
dropping it down to 950's with the 10.+ pellets seems to be the right mix for power and accuracy for me.
I'm looking to install a RL reg in my mrod as that's the worst shot to shot consistancy rifle I own. still accurate but I'd like to get at least 40 shots.
anyway, post your updates to yours when you get the chance.
forgot to mention, my reg is set to 120 bar. I have to use a inline mano as the current mano reads the regulated pressure not the fill pressure.

Well, that was easier than I thought! Since my progress cleaning my work area has not progressed much at all this weekend, I decided that the tailgate of my truck looked like a suitable work area. After removing the action from the stock, I fired the rifle to empty and unscrewed the cylinder without any fight. I cleaned the inside and marked the location for the vent hole, then proceeded to drill it with the supplied drill bit and then deburred it. I slid the regulator in without issue, reassembled the action and charged it. My gauge on the rifle went right to 150bar and I filled the reservoir to 200bar. I loaned my chronograph to my friend and sent him off with the rifle to run a velocity string with the Piledriver pellets. Unfortunately there will be no accuracy testing as I don't have a scope on it yet. All told, it took about 30-40 minutes, start to finish, to disassemble the rifle, install the regulator and reassemble, easy enough a caveman could do it
. Power wise, 4 shots completely penetrated my denim stop and mashed themselves into thin little discs on the concrete, I think we have a winner
I should be able to excavate to my safe and swipe a scope off one of my other rifles later this week, so I can put it on paper when my buddy brings it back (hopefully). When I get the velocity data, I will list it and hopefully that will be later tonight.

Well, I got a late and frustrating report. My friend only captured one velocity reading out of 13 rounds and got odd erratic readings for his guns. The lone pellet that tripped was registered at 745fps, his own stuff seemed unusually low, so I may have to check the gear and retest. Sorry for the letdown for now.

A 21g Piledriver @ 745fps= 25.89fpe sounds about right. I think I'd get my chrony back & do my own testing though.

We'll see, my friend tried testing several different guns and now the readings are looking more normal. He only took one loaded magazine with Piledriver pellets in it, so he ran out. He did test a Gamo pellet of 7.6gr and it indicated 1070fps, but another one recorded in the 700's but made a supersonic crack. It looks like my Chrony might be having issues seeing the small pellets. Everything else he tested was .22 or .25 caliber.

Well, I don't have velocity data, but a quick zero in the field at about 25yds did the trick. I only got one shot, but solidly anchored a very fat ground squirrel at 25-30 yards. I think this is going to be a solid combination with this pellet. When I get my Chrony back I will get some numbers hopefully. .

A little update. I got out for a couple of hours at the range Sunday and had a chance to see what I could do. Unfortunately, the wind was blowing and because of a match on the 100yd line, I wasn't allowed to set up the Chrony, so I was limited to shooting groups at 50yds. I was starting to get sick so my shooting was less than spectacular, but I was very pleased. Using nothing but the Piledriver's, I had most groups hovering in the 1"-1 1/2" without paying any attention to the wind. I wanted to see how bad they would wander with the intermittent wind, which would go from slack to 15+ mph without warning. I was also not using my rifle rest, I was just using a 4x4 on the bench to anchor myself a bit. I am pretty much sold on this pellet, I just need to have another go at it with a few things in my favor to wring out it's potential. I definitely need to work over the trigger, it is long and about as smooth as 60 grit sandpaper, I need my rest and bags to keep the wobbles away and I need to get a bit of calm weather. Once the reservoir dipped below 150 bar, the shots quickly started a diagonal track downward, so the regulator is doing its job. I had not topped off when I got there and I had fired about 3 magazines before that happened. My SCBA was just below 200 bar, but the next fill lasted about 60 rounds and I stopped before I reached 150 because I felt too lousy to shoot anymore. Before I forget, many of the shots I fired when the wind was slack wanted to cluster on top of each other. It was only the wind that opened the groups to the above mentioned sizes, so in a field situation I could still count on a solid hit if I forgot to account for the wind in many situations. Oddly, I really want to get some chronograph time because I took my BSA SuperTen out for the first time and those pellets seemed to be loafing out to 50yds and I could see them in flight, the Evanix just put those pellets in the target without any appreciable delay. Now I am wondering if the BSA is in need of some adjustment??? Other than feeling poorly, it was a nice excuse to get some range time and I am ready for more.

Well, the chronograph told an interesting story. The regulator is dead nuts consistent! I sent 5 shots that were either 770 fps or 771 fps. The good news is, I am making 28fpe with a 21gr. Piledriver, the bad news is that I was hoping for a target velocity above 900. It certainly is a performer, but now I wonder if I can get more velocity. For now, I won't grumble too badly and I will hopefully field test it on some critters. I will start searching for any tuning info available for the Rainstorm platform. BTW, ignore my previous comment about the BSA, something really odd was going on and it is now running full power. I am a bit baffled.
