Yes the newer Beeman line is based on the AR-1000 Chinese air rifles power plant. Beeman and others clone many of there models after it. All made in same Chinese factory with different names on them and different stocks. And different prices depending on product name.
Here is one that is nicely priced and is the same gun as both you mentioned.

Good advice Gene!
I have a TF 89 and it has been one of the best air guns I've owned! I can't count all the small game I've taken with that rifle! I've shot it so much I've broken TWO springs in it.
Probably over 8,000 shots easily.
A few weeks back, I ordered a Beeman 1051. It is the exact same rifle except in .177. I do think they put a little prettier stock on the Beeman though. Otherwise they are the same.

I too have the TF89. It is one of my favorites. A little heavy, but very smooth. Where is the Norica made?

In all fairness to Norica, which seems to get little, if any, good press, the Storm is the original gun. Sort of like Gamo Shadows are the basis for quite a few Crosman/Chinese variants. Beeman had a long-standing relationship with Norica that went way back when Doc Beeman offered low-priced guns along with the HW's. For example, the Falcon is a Norica circa 1980. If you can still find a Norica Storm, I would buy that over the clones.

RF why buy a Norica Storm, when you can buy a AR-1000, TF-89 or twenty other clones of the AR-1000. Same powerplant and trigger, just different stocks is all along with different names stamped in breech block?

Gene, for one thing, the folks who bought up those Storms for about $140 from PA have almost unanimously complimented Norica on the fit and finish of the guns. Why buy the copy when the original is this well made? Only a shade under Cometa and, due to poor marketing, etc, much cheaper. For another, why not support the people who came up with the original gun if it's not a great deal of difference in pricing? They earned it. I'm all for saving a buck but also think hard work and investment should be rewarded. Odd how folks will not bat an eye at buying the least expensive copy on the market but scream bloody murder when they see a show about out sourcing to India.

LOL RF, I had seen the AR-1000 long before the Norica Storm ever appeared. So you are saying that Norica is the originator of this power plant? You got any proof of that? I would not be suprised if Made In China was not stamped on those Norica's..

I had a Norinco years ago and shot the mess out of it. It lasted several years and was a work horse of a AG
