Which one?

Howdy,
I'm thinking about getting a new .22 cal pest controller/hunter/plinker. I had an old Gamo Big Cat that shot pretty well once I broke it in, found the right pellet, and learned to shoot. Unfortunately, the spring broke.
I'm looking at the XS460 with a gas ram, or a tuned 25, either in .22 caliber. I want whichever is going to be the most forgiving to shoot, but I feel I need a gas ram because of our cold climate and I would like to leave it cocked for up to an hour while hunting.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ron.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, most if not all my shooting with be inside of 25 yards and I'd like to stick to the fiber optic sights and not use a scope, if that makes a difference...

If you don't mind double the cocking force compared to the spring and more recoil then the 46 rammed is the way to go, springs can be left cocked for hours if needed when hunting and it won't hurt them. Loss of velocity in cold weather with a spring is minimal maybe 10 to 15 fps so at 25 yards won't matter. The XS-25 will be lighter to carry in the field and will have slightly less power but still has enough for hunting small game.

Do yourself a huge favor... let the man do a full Mike Mellick tune on an XS-25 in .22 cal. and don't look back. He did 2 of them for us and of the 80+ airguns we have, when it's time to go shoot those are the first we grab. He detuned Betty Lou's for easier cocking and you couldn't pry it out of her hands. The more we shoot them, the better they get. We also opted to stay with the open sights. At 25yds. you won't miss.

Hmm, it sounds like for what I need, a gas piston doesn't really have any advantage. As I'm looking more for an easy shooter more than a powerful shooter, the fully tuned 25 would be pretty hard to beat.
Thanks!
