As some of you may have read from a couple of my other posts, I seemed to have acquired one of the "good ones"; a Nitro Venom Dusk. Due to weather, I am still shooting indoors at approx 18tf, but am extremely pleased with the accuracy and performance of the rifle.
Thinking about adding a few things to it to make it more user friendly in the field. Looking for opinions.
Attaching a small rail to the bottom of the stock, just behind the opening for the barrel cocking.
This will allow for a couple of things:
- A rail mounted front sling attachment, there is already a hole drilled in the rear of the stock (plugged with a rubber stopper)
- A rail mounted tri-pod (spring loaded of course to allow for the double-whammy recoil of these rifles)
- A laser sight (are these worth anything?). Looks like they can be had for approx $30-50 bucks
This should still allow for the use of the standard artillery hold as the heal of my fore-hand rests up against, or even on the trigger guard anyway.
Thoughts before I start drilling?
Eventually, I'd like to carve a thumb-hole stock for it anyway. But mostly wondering if it will work and would be worth the accessories.
Thanks,
Jonesy.
