Cat, so with cleaning the "action" in specific, you're talking about a full tear-down? I don't have a problem with that, as stated, I have done a "job" on my son's Storm. Warrantees-shmarantees, at this point I don't care, all I will be doing is cleaning. I probably wont hone the compression chamber at this time, but have read that this is an option, but don't have a problem taking it apart. As I have read, ultra-basic lube job would be this:- dismantle the rifle completely, other than the trigger mechanism and remove factory grease(slop).- dielectric grease on the seal.- RemOil or similar light gun oil on movable parts.- re-Loc-Tite on re-assembly.Can Hopps(etc.) solvent be used on parts to totally remove the factory gunk? Inside barrel, action linkage, trigger, etc.?Basic Upgrades:- crown muzzle end if needed- trigger upgrade (just curious if there are other options than CDT?)- brass spacer/washers for the action- scope (at this point, I don't see a prob, mine has an ocular adj)PBA's, yeah, won't touch them, learned from my son's Storm. That being said, first impressions are better than "entry level".Thanks for the responses.Jonesy.
Funny you should mention the redfires....I just picked up a tin yesterday... A pair of nutters were kind enough to show up today for me to test them . All my pest control has been with cphp and most would pass through on headshots. I just made two shots slightly lower than I wanted (shot was right about 12 yds so I misjudged the holdover) and both were DOA with no pass through. As I was sitting down to write this ....two more large feathery critters showed up and met the same demise at 20 yds. and I'm not sure yet but there was no noise from my backstop so I am thinking no pass through again. So far they seem to be ideal for backyard pestinig.
