Octane, 125, 135, or XS28M in .22? I'm looking to spend around $200 so the XS28M would not be tuned. I have a 95 in .177 now and was pretty set on a 125 or 135 but was thinking about trying out another brand since I'm new to break barrel guns.

The octane has a nice AO 3x9 40mm scope, it's stock looks cheap but is rugged. They shoot good but have a safety that is a little different than most people are used to. The safety lever is in front of the trigger. To shoot it you pull the safety lever back towards the trigger. This is backwards as compared to most of the other manufactures that have trigger group safeties. Both the 125 and 135 Hatsan come from the factory with a better trigger which can be made to shoot very well with just a light polish job. The 125 has a plastic stock which is not as rugged as the octane's. The 135 has a nice wood stock but comes without any scope. The 125 comes with a non AO 3x9 32mm cheap scope that most people replace. For your 200 limit you could get the 125 with spring or gas ram the 135 with the spring only or the octane which only comes with a gas ram if you take advantage of the discount coupons available from pyramid air. All three shoot hard and are heavy rifles. The Hatsans have a one year warranty and the octane has a three year warranty. I think the 125 and 135 shoot a little faster than the octane in 22cal but not enough to be a big deal. Whatever you decide good luck to you.

Billy I forgot to mention the xisico XS28 in my first post. I have never shot one but I know that many folks here have and all rave about the service and value they get from Mike at flying dragons. It is a copy of the RWS 350 mag I believe and only comes with a spring powerplant. All four of your picks are going to shoot fast and hit hard. They each have their +'s and their -'s . It's great to have choices whatever you choose shoot several different pellets until you find the one that works for you and your rifle. Best wishes.

Billy, I have owned the Hatsan 135 and two Umarex Octane rifles. I converted one of the Octanes to .25 cal and kept the other stock. I think Native Son gave some good accurate contrast to the different guns.
The Hatsan 135 is a beautiful gun, but heavy enough that it needs wheels...lol Out of the box mine shot 14.3 CPHP at 980+ fps with just slight spring twang.
The Octane in .22 is almost two pounds lighter and has a gas ram instead of spring. The power is just a bit less than the Hatsan, but the shot cycle is a bit smoother and the gun is easier on the shoulder in the field.
Both guns are very accurate once you master the proper hold for a magnum springer. There is, by the way, an active Umarex Octane user group over at Yahoo Groups that you can visit if you want to learn more about that gun.

the 28 is available from MM with his basic tune for $205 . i'm undecided between a rws 34/350 "clone" vs. a quattro triggered hatsan myself .
i wouldn't let the scope effect the buying decision since they are replaced most of the time anyway .

Refurb Diana 350's come up on AGD from time to time in the $250-$260 range. Better rifle IMO than the one's mentioned. Within your budget, the B28 with the basic tune is where I'd be looking. The extra couple foot pounds of the others won't allow you to hunt anything you can't humanely take with the 350/B28, and these rifles will have a nicer trigger than the Hatsans. Aftermarket parts and tune kits are also readily available for the 350/B28.

Are you looking for a magnum ie diana 34 or a super magnum diana 350m ? if a magnum, the remington express is a nice rifle. I just bought a hatsan 95 in .25 it has a sedate firing cycle. some would say that .25 is too much for a 95,but one of my favourite rifles is a bsa supersport mk2 in .22 because of its firing cycle.

I have a Hats and 95 now. I'm 90% sure I'm going to go with the XS28 from Mike. His reputation for quality work and customer service is what's selling me. The other 10% says to go with the octane. Quality control issues with my 95 are turning me off on the brand even though when it is shooting right I love it.
