i would discard the bipod all together. shoot from a couple of pillows with the gun resting on your open palm. have it just leaning on your shoulder and use a minimal contact trigger pull (thumb in the shoulder behind the action, cushioned first part of index finger...no lateral pressure from palm contact). clean barrel, then try the crosman prems again. then jsb in any weight order you like. group at 15 yards. tell us your group sizes...

When I shoot mine off hand I make a thumbs up with my non trigger hand and rest the rifle on the top of my fist with my thumb on the side of the rifle

Okay...where to start
I took to heart what everyone suggested and especially the last post by Mike where he said
"The 46U doesn't like to be rested on darn near anything"
. It also seemed that some of you thought my bipod setup was suspect by making comments about using pillows and sandbags and such.
So I reevaluated my bi-pod setup. Taking into consideration that I have confidence in the rifle and confidence in my shooting techniques. In addition, I went to the range on Saturday and picked up a few bi-pods that my local HFT group had laying around. The 1st thing I noticed was "man these things are heavy". These bi-pods, whether purchased or homemade were heavy compared to mine, and I thought "hmmmmm maybe these guys are on to something".
Their bi-pods could be measured/compared in pounds whereas my bi-pod could be measured/compared in ounces. So for sure, to create stability my light weight aluminum homemade bi-pod needed more weight.
I also looked at the surface I was resting my bi-pod on. A concrete garage floor...and I noticed that as I shot...the shot cycle would cause the bi-pod to bounce or "hop" a little. My son even noticed it when he was watching me shoot. He said "why does your whole rig move when you shoot? I replied, yeah it hops and slides to the left right?"
So to fix this, I once again looked at a few bi-pods online and on Saturday at my shooting group. The 2nd thing I noticed was the "WIDTH" of the legs and how far apart they were compared to my setup. I noticed my bi-pod legs were way too close together and too vertical and because of this they were transferring the shot cycle down into the concrete and bouncing back the harmonics.
2nd change needed. I need to get the bi-pod legs to position wider and create more stability to spread the shot cycle harmonics out and away from the rifle.
So after some adjustments and some careful consideration specifically focused on stabilizing the rifle thru the bi-pod, here are my most recent groups. I think for now I found a pellet I can use. Is it the "PERFECT PELLET"...I am not sure. These are groups @15 yards so I will need to see what I can do with the JSB's at 35 yards and farther. So far this is as close as I can get to 1 hole groups at 15 yards.
Not too bad
PS. At the range on Saturday a guy had some 14.34 Air Arms pellets and he gave me some to plink around with. Ohhh did they stink...rifle did not like them. So the next pellet I need to try are the JSB 15.89's. For some reason I think these are going to be the one!!! Just need to get my hands on some.

That is some good grouping, I hope they still look that good @ 35. Can you take some pics of the bipod you made? I would be very interested in that (including mods you done to it)

I'm not a springer guy, nor do I shoot HFT, however, after reading this I believe it may be in your best interest to experiment with your front support at different points on the forearm. I know some springer guys say that if they vary their front support location by an inch or two Forward or backward from the ideal point, their groups can go from fantastic to awful pretty quickly.
Just some food for thought.

Those groups are nice. But seems the shot string are sort of vertical. Like LeadBreakfast pointed out finding the right balance point for the rest may help. Thanks for posting seems like you are figuring it out. GL
