The Long is heavier, therefore a bit more stable on the bench.... If detuned for the same velocity as the Short then it will be more efficient, adding to the already 28% greater shot count possible from the larger reservoir.... Accuracy will depend on the individual barrel and other factors, not the length.... Shooting offhand, however, I would prefer the lighter weight and (IMO) better balance of the Short.... and for hunting it is more compact as well.... Bob
...If you are considering shooting at greater distances than 75 yards, you may want to go with the .22 caliber...
Hey Stretch,I have both the long & short AT44-10-Wood. Because the Long has a 230cc air cylinder, I'm adding a regulator (Milo74/$80) and should get 70 to 75 shots between 900 to 925 fps with JSB 10.34. I think this is perfect for target shooting as the regulator should give me an ES <4% (maybe less than 2%), hence very consistent air flow vs. an unregulated version.I may eventually regulate the Short version too, but will give up 20/25 shots vs. the Long. If you are considering shooting at greater distances than 75 yards, you may want to go with the .22 caliber.I hope this helps..................Kirk
What kind of long ranger accuracy are you getting with this set up.? I really like the idea of a heavy 177 moving along at 900fps. Have you tried any of the heavier pellets?

I can go up to 20+fpe for 40 shots with tension to the hammer spring. To 16 fpe i get almost 70 same shots A friend with the same gun started using the monsters,he de-tuned from 19 fpe to 15.5 Both guns now shoot well the cp's 7.9,the 10.5 also (and better than the 7.9) and can make one hole with the jsb's 13.44

The long .22 is even better My gun is regulated (has an Audrius reg in) with 3cm spacer Out of the box you will have about 15-18 same shots

I've seen a video of one on Youtube that adds the plenum to the end of the reservoir by screwing on where the valve goes once you take the tube apart. It makes the tube longer but keeps the capacity of the reservoir intact.Any knowledge of a regulator I can use like that? The video had no useful information in the description that I could use to try and track it down.
