Re-built Benjamin trail NP, issues cocking.

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum. Last night I took apart my Benjamin trail NP to clean and lube it, upon putting it back together I am having an issue with cocking it. It will go into cocking position up until about 3/4th of an inch away from the full cocking stroke. I was wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem, or if anyone else has any specific information on fixing it or what may have gone wrong?

I have a suspicion that the plain plate in the back spring guide is not flat against the back of the gas ram. Somehow you have put it vertically in the back spring guide when you inserted it into the chamber. It is about 3/4 inch if it is standing in the spring guide.

Howdy and welcome to GTA Forums. One thing that has been an issue before is the forward mounting screws. If they are too long (and it doesn't take much) they will rub the cocking lever and prevent the complete cycle. Just turn the airgun over and take a look at the two screws that attach the stock to the metal and see if they are touching. You can remedy it several ways. Easiest is adding a flat washer under the screw head. You can also mark the screw, remove it and cut it off to where it will be flush. Or you can go to Lowe's and buy replacement screws that are shorter.
Let us know if this helps.
SAFE & Happy Shooting!!!!

that is one of the things that i was thinking in my head but it has a lot of force on that little round plate for it to stay jammed sideways like that? i am also pretty sure it was flat when it was re installed.

It was the trigger block the sear was in the wrong spot also when I looked in the barrel after the first 5-10 shots the grease I used on the piston was clogging the barrel so I got out the air hose and ran that down the barrel it got cleared out soon enough

Glad you figured it out. It's sometimes hard to cover all of the possibilities when we didn't know the full extent of what you had done prior to the issue. It was hopefully a learning experience. Good job. Word of caution, be VERY careful when working on an airgun, especially the trigger group. It's very easy to create an unsafe situation.

Yea I would not recommend anyone doing a tear down on a perfectly good air gun it does scare u when even the variables change even slightly but learning is what its all about and I ran a good 200 shots threw it with no issues so im calling it a success and wont be tempted to take it apart further unless my seals go bad then im going with new seals and de-burring the slots I watched the air gun web video how to take apart a break barrel with greg he makes it look soo easy tho
