Title: SUCCESS!!! 13XX with p-rod/1701p grip frame installed
Post by: 1377x on November 26, 2011, 01:08:38 AM
after reading a post about installing a p-rod/1701p grip frame on a 13XX
i had to have one!
after a few weeks of waiting for the gripframe,it came in!
(http://mediamail.boostmobile.com/mmps/RECIPIENT/005_19265a7f82cd8bee_2/2.jpg?partExt=.jpg&outquality=56&rand=3428608550648578805&ext=.jpg&limitsize=600,800&inviteToken=6EYrJChcz75jy8oY0axx)

in the post it was mentioned a modded hammer was needed for smooth operation and it gave instuction on how to modify the hammer.
another option is to order a custom 1377 hammer from mellonair.someone else did exactly that.following suit i contacted mellonair and ordered a custom hammer
getting anxious,i went ahead and modded my stock hammer accordingly
okay, ran into a problem. now what i thought
took the side plate off.holding everything down with my 3 arms  cocking the gun,i saw what the issue was in my gun.
the sear was bumping up against the tube preventing the sear from locking the hammer back
now i have 2 choices
cut a reccess into the tube or modify the sear
i know tubes are real cheap and dont know what a new sear would cost or how long it would take to get,if something went wrong.chose option 1 recess the sear slot in the tube
now,i have positive engagement  ;D
WOW!!!  :D is all i can say about this p-rod/1701p gripframe
i am still in the learning process of the 2-stage trigger idea.haven't settled on an ideal adjustment for my shooting.the way i have it set up right now is no creep  and very short trigger pull.did the bump/thump/drop test it is safe!!
i can adjust how light i want the trigger pull to be which feels great compared to the stock gripframe and trigger.the p-rod-1701p trigger is wider

i also added a disco hammer spring to the mix as i plan to pump 15x.with the stock 1377 spring it couldn't dump all the air after 14 pumps.tried 20 pumps, all air dumped and gun is a lot louder now
added a stock and scope today.will run it across the crony also
will post better pics and range report then.
crosman needs to add this gripframe to all their pistols.it is worth the price increase

the mellonair custom hammer came in
weighs in at a whopping 43 grams.the stock hammer weighs around 39.5 grams
no skirt = smooth operation
anyone considering this gripframe mod should consider this hammer a must

Good report... agree, when I think of the first $$ I spent on my 22xx's and 1377's, I would gladly have paid for the Crosman folks to have got the frame and trigger right from the get-go.

thanks!
it is so much better!!!
the pull is so short its unbelievable and light. it can be adjusted, too
forgot to order the over travel screw when i put in an order today
the over travel screw imo is a necessity with the trigger pull being so short

the evp numbers dont match whats in the computer at crosman.
i dont have them.call crosman,if they cant help maybe i can.just pm me when you get an answer from crosman let me know what they say
your 22XX hammer would need to be modded or get a custom hammer like in my pics but for a 22XX.i dont know if the hammer for the p-rod would work in a 22XX

I definitely need the part numbers for everything needed to do that. The 1377 NEEDS a better trigger.

the correct part numbers should be coming out in a month or two
if you want one now
just call crosman tell them you want a complete 1701p or maruader pistol grip frame
they should be able to hook you up
someone else just ordered one earlier today
they are in stock
once word gets out they will be in short supply
