Hatsan 95 -->25 Caliber Vortex Ram Tune

Hey Hatsan 95 Vortex owners (.25 Cal.),
I have already completed the basic tune on the above Vortex Gas Ram, but am now concentrating on different pressure levels inside the Vortex gas ram itself. Because I didn't crony the OEM Vortex (crony was down), I don't have a reliable baseline?
Can someone share their out-of-the-box velocity the gun using either H &N 19.91's or JSB 25.4 pellets?
Here is where the gun's at right now:
140 bar in Vortex
(
OEM is 125 bar
) -
1) H&N 19.91 grain - 615 to 620 fps
2) JSB 25.40 grain - 530 to 535 fps
Maybe I have damaged to ram due to increasing the psi; Hatsan says max velocity is had at 125 bar?
Originally, I
accidentally
pumped up the gun slightly beyond 150 bar a few months ago and got 704 fps with 19.91's.
Lastly, when the gun was pumped up beyond 150 bar, it was very difficult to cock "one-handed" and after awhile, I needed to use two hands -> significantly harder than my Hatsan 135. Matter of fact, the rotator cuff on my right shoulder hurt for about a week after shooting about 50 shots.
Just trying to get some ideas on where to set the ram other than 125 bar. I think gas rams traditionally shoot with a little less power than springer's, using a slightly higher cocking force. I believe, no matter what velocities are ultimately achieved, the hash cocking is not worth the marginal gain in power.
We'll see..........................Kirk

I´ve settled down with mine, at 135 bar, feeling happy overall, and wouldn´t convert back to the spring, no matter what. Love the feel and shooting cycle, with the Vortex ram in my .22 cal Hatsan 95.

Max press is 145 bar
17 fpe @ 140bar looks ok.
My 99 (same gun with extra barrel release system) is also 17 fpe with ftt,
using a 30cm sping (from 34)

Hey Piperman,
I don't have a picture and I'm not sure it makes much difference, but I remember that 150 bar Max. was written on the side of the Vortex strut.

Hatsan 95 - Springer's vs Vortex velocity differences
:
Hatsan 95
Springer's
:
1) .177 caliber -> ( 7.90 CPHP) = 1,012 fps or
18.0 FPE
2) .220 caliber -> (14.3 CPHP) = 760 fps or
18.3 FPE
3) .250 caliber -> (19.91 H&N) = 647 fps or
18.5 FPE
Hatsan 95
Vortex
:
1) Data not available
2) Data not available
3) .250 caliber -> (19.91 H&N) = 620 fps or 17 FPE*
* The 17 FPE is further inflated because Vortex running at 140 bar instead of 125 bar.

Hey D14Jeff,
Since I have tuned all my 95's using JM seals, including the Vortex, the only thing I can think of is that I may have sanded/polished the compression chambers (on the lathe) a little too smooth using 500 grit carborundum? I also used JM Lubes including the Molly on the piston and SuperLube w/PDF in the chamber. On the other hand MAX power was not the point of the tunes (live & learn) - right? All guns are very smooth............Kirk
