Decided to order some .177 boxed cp domes from walmart.com. Placed my order online and after about a week I get an automated text msg. from wally world that they had arrived. No shipping charge, just walked in and picked them up with a signature. It still baffles me that the the boxed CP dome .22's are double the price of .177 almost as if we are paying by the pound?
......Anyway I shot about 50 today and my first impressions are consistent with what I've read. My rifle is pretty forgiving and will digest just about anything I feed it, but it has always liked cphp's. So the difference is not huge but the boxed domes do fit more consistently in the breech. Accuracy is similar to cphp's but with my rifle any pellet that beat cphp would just about have to all go in the same hole. Possibly fewer fliers but hard to tell yet. Mostly I liked that I could try them without paying shipping and figured they would be at least as accurate as cphp's.

Did you get the 7.9gr or the 10.5gr?
I've been getting good accuracy from the plain jane 7.4gr pointed pellets in my 18" 2400KT, at least with the first tin. I have two more tins so I hope the consistency holds up, If not I think I will give a box a try.

I got the 7.9 grain although my rifle also shoots the 10.5's pretty well too. The Walmart.com listing shows them as 7.5 gr but it's wrong. None of the pointed pellets I've tried will group well for me. They also have the CP match wadcutters that are very accurate in some target pistols and Co2 guns.

I find the Crosman pellets in the box to be the most consistent in quality overall. Very few damage skirts very clean with little debris in the box. Wash them dry them lube them (this helps with the tight breech loading in some guns) and shoot them. My HW30s loves them along with the Air Falcons but They have to be sorted for damaged skirts. The price is a little higher but site to store free shipping helps.

I shoot the boxed cp heaves in my titan NP .177, they seem pretty consistant.

What is the difference between the CP "boxed" and "tin". The pricing difference is outrageous in .22.
Thx

From what I've read the boxed are from the same fresh die, and the tins are from random older dies.

Basically the boxed ones are the most consistent ammo that Crosman has to offer. The single mold die would make sense since they seem to be much more consistent in size than the tins. I shot maybe 100 rounds this afternoon and I didn't actually do any measurements but they seem to be on par with my most accurate pellet to date the H&N FTT 4.52. As I mentioned before there are just fewer fliers. The fact that they are dome versus HP is nearly meaningless on critters since I've recovered CPHP pellets from tree rats and although they will deform if they hit bone they don't really expand at all.

I picked up a tin of the premium super magnums tonight. I shot about a dozen on a low CO2 cartridge, the first few seemed to hit pretty hard, then I noticed the power fading. I need to give them another try tomorrow with a fresh cartridge. I'll run a few over the chrony while I'm at it to see if there is much difference in velocity compared to the 7.4gr pointed.

I loose about 50-60fps with the 10.5gr Super Magnums Vs. the 7.4gr Pointed, but pick up about 1ft/lb of energy according to this
http://www.shooterscalculator.com/bullet-kinetic-energy.php
The super mags do shoot accurate at least out to 25 yards

i prefer 10.5 gr over 7.9 gr.
it sure looses some fps but for the accuracy they do well when it comes to 30+ yards
