4 shot group today from 62 yards, held braced against a door jamb.
Ugh. Is your old barrel still shooting the JSB heavies well?

For anyone who is interested I did ALOT of shooting, pumping, and disassembling today with the Mrod. I eventually settled on my old barrel with jsb 18's. The new barrel shot exactly how my old one did before I ran the bore brush through it......not well . FYI the pellets I tested through both barrels are: JSB 18's, JSB 15's, Predator poly's, and barracuda match 5.53. All pellets (save the pred's) have a good rep for shooting well out of Mrods. Also on a side note I have some J-B bore paste coming on Mon and I have a hunch that may improve accuracy even more. Here are the best groups I could get at 45 yards (not exactly as far as I would like to shoot accuratly) bear in mind that I don't think these are fluke groups they were all about this big (none smaller though, one flyer would always ruin a potential good group) While those are decent groups it has taken a while to get them like that. I probably will fine tune the velocity tomorrow in preparation for some weekend hunting. Now here is the big question....is this kind of accuracy all you can expect to get for under 800$? Will the Rainstorm,Sumatra, Airforce, Air Arms s500 consistently do better out of the box? Would it be just better to save up for a AA s510 or a maybe a Cricket, what are your thoughts?

You could try drilling those holes 0.5mm bigger and see if that helps. AA is known for quality and Crickets have hammer forged CZ barrels, hard to go wrong with either of those. For sub 800$ accurate gun I'd go for BSA Ultra , Gamo Dynamax or AA S200 since they have great barrels and good triggers - but then again I live in Europe and we have a bit different market here.

Well guys I got my shipment of pellets from PA today, typical of my Mrod the barracuda 5.53 shot like @$%^ . But then when I tested some 18 gr. jsb's the gun began to shoot lights out . Today in central Cali we are getting some pretty high winds, most gust were about 15 mph or higher. That being said at 30 yards the gun was quite literally stacking pellets (Note: the flyer on the right was a sight-in shot and is not part of the group. This group was shot at 30 yrds in high wind gusts with 18 gr. jsb pellets)I know I said that I would sell the Mrod regardless of whether it improved or not......but now idk . There's that old saying that says if it ain't broke don't fix it. Dang I really want a rainstorm......maybe now I should just have both .
