Nothing like a Chrony. I can't imagine shooting without one.

I'll probably get another one once I get some funds together. One thing I know for certain is that after shooting a squirrel and starling, with this rifle set on the most powerful setting, they shouldn't run/fly away like they did. Something's not right.

With the Benjamin domes you shouldn't have it higher than 4-5 clicks.
When I first got my .25 Sumatra I had the same problem. I marked the power wheel & turned it toward the red & made 1 complete turn back to the mark I made, after that the power was up. Right now it shoots the 34gr jsbs @ 1040fps. Hope this makes since for you.

Breaking the sound barrier is not a huge concern for me. No if I need to dial it back from max to avoid accuracy degradation, sure. But I still want it towards the top of the power spectrum. As far as not being able to tell without a chrono, that's not true either. The power difference and penetration difference is huge and it doesn't take a genius to figure out something is wrong. Heck, after pumping the rifle to 20BAR pellets barely puncture the wood down to the skirt(on max power). Not just for 1-2 shots but after being tested over and over at this psi/setting with the same result. Furthermore, once the rifle gets down to around 15BAR it starts shooting about an inch into the wood. That feedback is obvious that something isn't right. Not to mention the rifle hasn't broke the sound barrier once. At the moment I don't have a $130 extra to invest in a chrono to get this rifle working right, so these tests will have to do. I'm not an idiot though. I've been shooting for over 30yrs, casting lead projectiles for years as a part time business, and have done extensive of research with powder burners. I know when something isn't right. The point of me posting this thread is to try and figure out a solution to the problem. Before starting this thread I tested these issues in a way that was repeatable and measurable. To compensate for variables or anomalies I did the tests probably 50 times, all with the same results.
Do you notice a difference in sound and penatration at different points on the wheel? Are you going by the guns gauge or you pumps gauge cause the guns gauges aren't normally correct.

I could probably throw the pellet as fast as it fires it on the lowest setting. Other than that Ive just shot it on its highest setting. As far as the gauge is concerned, I use both the one on the gun and on the pump. They're pretty much identical in their readings.

The ldc may be deceiving on the power you are putting out. Shoot it on high without it a see if it doesn't ring your ears.
