I was curious if anybody here would know what size the spring is inside a Hatsan Torpedo 100x? I cant seem to find anything online.... it would be helpful to state,
(1) number of coils
(2) length
(3) inner diameter
(4) outer diameter
(5) wire thickness
Any information is greatly appreciated, Jeff

I assume torpedo has same powerplant as all 27mm cylinder bore hatsans.
My mod 88 came with 49 coils an that is definitely too much. I tried two other original hatsan factory springs. On had 42 coils and other 44. Tried various number of coils spring but found it to be best at about 40 coils.
Wire is 3.1mm and OD 19.2mm +-0.1mm
Length is about 0.85cm/coil.

When cut down to 40 coils, how much fpe or pellet speed/caliber was it producing ? Thinking of detuning a torpedo as well. Thanks

Cutting coils will actually make the spring stiffer.
But with less preload it should lower velocity...and probably lessen the buzz.
Although I couldn't tell if my .177 had any twang or buzz at all because I was so shocked by how loud the muzzle blast was.
I only shot it twice.

I don't have chronograph but I would say the power is about the same anywhere from 40 to 49 coils. At 37 coils there is very little power drop but shot cycle felt kind slow so I put back 40. For twang remove i filled plastic stock with silicone, glued plastic buttons on piston, lubed spring heavily with thick car transmition grease and added plastic bottle sleeve inside piston. I did not like plastic piston because it did not make muck twang difference but it was robbing off some spring power. Thinner beer can sleeve would probably be better idea. And most of the twang was gone.
