A .22 would get the job done but you would definitely have to be more precise in shot placement. The .25 would carry much more energy and you could possibly not be as precise but the extra "wack" would still finish that hog off 😆
Physics man! Get the .25. Wider wound channel, more fpe down range. Why waste all that energy on a smaller round? A 60 grain 6-ring slug into a hog head vs any .22 slug. The .22 can't match it. I agree with Manny most of the time but not on this one.Compare the energy. I guarantee the .25 is no less accurate than the .22. I'm hitting steel consistently at 200 yards with a 55 grain semi-spritzer with a slight cross wind. What's the heaviest accurate available .22 slug out there? I'm not saying the .22 wouldn't work. But this is a no brainer. There is no more powerful and accurate .177, .22, or .25 PCP repeater out there for the price. And it's the Sumatra .25.And you're talking hogs. Not squirrels. I send those 55 grainers at over 900 fps. Came out to around 103 fpe. A BC of around .139. That BC is much higher than any pellet. I'll be testing them at 250 yards when the wind dies down on my stock Sumatra. This valley is like a wind tunnel. If they decide to build a Sumatra .357 repeater I'm all in.

More power and wider would channel than the .22.
Wider wound channel means nothing when shooting hogs in the brain.I stand by my " Incorrect" answer on that posts by stony30,...on several parts of it.I will elaborate if he comes back to try explain his position regarding that post on this thread.
