I was out shooting some paper at 80 yards today and I noticed that my shots were all high and to the left. So I moved up to 50 yards which is what my guns sighted for. And I was shocked to find that I couldn't keep a group under 3.5 inches and they were all high and left. When I recently got my new scope I'd cleaned the barrel really good and had taken 20-30 shots to re-lead the barrel. I sighted it in with the new scope and was getting dead on 1.5 inch groups with every 4th or 5th shot being a flier. I've shot consistent 3/4 inch groups with this gun and the same pellets. So I figured the bad groups were because of the barrel still re-leading. I tried shooting my old scope and got slightly smaller groups but still nothing close to what I'm used to seeing. My 392 is recrowned with all the paint removed from the muzzle, the new scope is a accushot 3-12x44 and I'm shooting rws superpoints. Did I get a bad tin of pellets or is there something wrong with the gun or scope?

Check your scope mount for fit and tightness - a similar thing happened to me with a new scope and it turned out to be the mount. If that's OK, try some different pellets to see if they also shoot high and left. If they do, all you've got left is the rifle somehow.

I would put my money on the pellets.

Well I checked the mounts this morning and they weren't tight at all.
that would explain why my old scope outshot my new one. but the pellets don't fit as tightly into the barrel as the ones from the last tin that shot good so when I get home I'll try another tin.
