What about firecrackers? I'm thinking that the transfer of energy would detonate a black cat or ladyfinger and give a satisfying pop...I know that in PB rifles we use tanerite charges and those can be successfully detonated with a .22lr so maybe a scaled down version of this would be pellet vs firecrackers.

I've been shooting at plastic bottles and pop cans for about a week. Those five hour energy bottles make a nice target at about 25-30 yards. Shot a 1" plastic lid at about 50 yards, and after I emptied my first pellet tin, I nailed it at close to 75 yards. Tried shooting some plastic bottles at 100 yards but my hand hasn't proven steady enough for that. To be honest, I'm a little surprised I was even hitting the back stop.
BTW, love the army men idea, might have to go buy some this weekend
