Title: Beeman Silver Kodiak x2
Post by: jmcgall1 on October 26, 2013, 06:17:19 PM
Hey guys!

I'm still alive over here. I just kind of drop off the airgun map when I'm at college. The other month I did something I always advise against doing and bought a cheap Walmart gun.

The dual caliber nickel plated beeman silver kodiak X2 sprig piston air rifle. It seems there isn't much info on this gun so I figured I'd do a quick review.

The trigger cocking mechanism were crunchy at first, but has calmed down to a smooth long first stage with a repeatable and predictable release at my guess would be 5-6 lbs. the barrel fits tightly in the breech, and I only use the .22

It seems as though swapping barrels frequently will result in scratching the breech seal, but it is standard size and they even include a second one.

Please check and tighten stock screws, mine were loose and accounted for the lack of accuracy.
If you think crosman pellets are a good choice for any gun, please leave.

The included 4x32 scope is not bad for what it is, usable at ten yards, but I put on a hawke 3-9 x 40 AO MD scope, and thusfar have dialed in the gun to shoot .5 in ctc groups of 6 shots at 13 yards. When I return for break I will stretch the range out further and report back

The best pellet for my gun out of jsb 15 gr, beeman fts, h and n field target trophy, and air arms 18 grain were the air arms, which fit almost loosely in the gun and hit higher on the target, possibly indicating faster velocity, again ill check this when I can.

Other recommendation is the med hold loctite, the med profile UTG mount come loose on the scope b4 using this.

So to sum up reasonable short range accuracy. Plenty of power for game in .22 cal. Only $90 when purchased in store at Walmart (mismarked???) and I think looks great with the black stock and nickel finish.

So I'm very happy so far. Not the pcp I want. But for a under a hundred bucks (plus sixty for the scope) i'm happy!

Pics will follow if my iPod lets me.

they are a so so gun you got a good 1. some are bad and I read somewhere a guy got 1 and he loves it. congrats on getting a good 1 . now go out and SHOOT a lot as its fun to shoot even a $5. gun too. I have a $5 gun a crosman pumper pistol and even it is fun to kill cans with as much as it is to use my Diana 54 or fwb 300s .

Robert, you are preaching to the choir. My power line 880 was fun because I spent so much time getting the darn thing to shoot straight. And if you mess up you only spent under $40 and got some experience from it. Under 25 yd it never misses. My hopes are that this one is good to thirty for some rabbits :) that's about as far as I shoot offhand with enough confidence to bring an animal with that small of a kill zone down.  It definitely seems that the silver x2 has a little better qc that what I've seen from the standard version. I also was irked by reviews from people who only tied one pellet or did not know proper technique. I agree that there will be lemons, but hey it has a warranty if after a tightening, cleaning, three hundred rounds and a pellet test it doesn't shoot straight, bring it back.

I have the exact same gun. Bought it a few days ago. Mounted and zeroed the scope today. (.22 barrel.) Even after adjusting the trigger, the pull still seemed quite long. Other than that the gun seemed more than capable in terms of power and accuracy. It's a pretty sucker, too.

I have yet to try the .177 barrel, but I will.

some of the better beeman Chinese guns are real nicely made. I have a 1064 and its real well built for Chinese made . oh forgot but I am not sure on your guns guys but take the stock off and look at the trigger n see if it has 2 very small screws in it on the backside. my 1064 has 2 and they sure eradicated the long pull. im not sure on your model but a look is cheep

If the Silver Kodiak is of the same internal construction as the RS2 of last year, they should be pretty nice guns for the money.  The long trigger draw can be adjusted out and the second stage is nicely predictable.  I shot with the .22 cal barrel for a while before ever trying the .177.  Turns out it will average sub 0.5" groups at 25 yards with the occasional 0.2" - 0.3" group thrown in.  Here's an example of a page of groups shot at 25 yards a few weeks ago and a couple of groups at 42 yards.

Sounds like you got a good one.  Enjoy it!

The more I shoot it, the more I love it. My laptop is broken and gta barely works on my iPod. I still haven't brought it out to long range but with 18gr air arms I squeezed in a .25 in ctc group at thirteen yards for ten shots. Can't wait to go back home. And I do agree the gun is very pretty I'm drawing up designs for a walnut stock now.

The trigger pull is long, but after a shooting session it is perfectly repeatable, crisp and breaks at the same point every time.

There is only one adjustment screw on the trigger, which adjusts the spring tension directly to the trigger. Doesn't seem to affect travel that much, but does lighten trigger pull.

Like I said, for the power, accuracy, looks, and costs. It's an awesome gun once some time is taken to properly clean, tighten, allow proper brake in, and try different pellets.

Also my gun was very pellet sensitive, it only likes 18gr jsb and air arms.  Other pellets fit tightly in the breech and do not group with what I consider reasonable accuracy.
