Good Pellets for Benjamin 392?
«

What's some good pellets for the Benjamin 392? I'd like more than 5 different pellets that people find are good in a regular Benji 392.
Thanks,
Conor

Mine likes Crosman HP's and Gamo Hunter and both pellets are easy to load. It does not shoot well with the Daisy pointed or HP.

I always heard of people having great results with predators, but every gun will like its own particular pellets, so you just have to do some testing with several different types. Fun stuff!
Aint that right paul?

My 392 doesn't like CPHP's and absolutely hates Crosman points. RWS Superdomes and Superpoints are its favorites followed by 15.8 grain JSB's. Daisy wadcutters are really good too. Gamo hunters are OK.
If your rifle doesn't do well with any pellet take a look down the muzzle (BE VERY CAREFUL THE GUN ISN'T LOADED) and look to see if there is any paint overspray in the barrel. I had to clean out about 2 inches of the barrel on my 392. Carb and Choke cleaner did the trick with a bit of scrubbing with a Q-tip and .22 cal barrel mop. Just don't get any cleaner on the OUTSIDE of the barrel.
Polish the crown when done and you should be good to go!

Joshua, yea, is the price for the upgrade for the steroid worth it? My brother is thinking about doing that, for easier pumping(he's 12)((and extra FPS wouldn't hurt anything!

totally worth it from what i have heard. the ext. billet pump arm makes it a lot better to cock. the steroid valve upgrades make it so you can pump it 14 times instead of ten. it pretty much doubles the power. i saw this video from dirt e harry, where he uses 28 gr pellets ant based on the velocity they show, the gun gets 24fpe or something like that! that is just ridiculous man, that is up around the same power with a discovery.....and it is a multi-pump!!! just nuts. but if your bro is only 12 and not terribly strong yet, he may not be able to pump it very well because i hear that after ten pumps it gets SIGNIFICANTLY harder to pump...here is a link to that video.
Enjoy!

If you just want the rifle to be easier to pump you can fix that yourself with a small spring and a small washer...
http://www.network54.com/Forum/79537/message/1248052895/How+about+a+few+easy+DIY+Benji+mod%27s
I did this to my 392 and the difference in pumping is tremendous. I also trimmed about 1/8" off the check valve and turned down the valve stem a little and now it will do 700fps on 8 pumps (factory max) with 14.5g Superdomes (16fpe). All for just a little work and a spring and a washer! Tweaking the sear also makes the trigger a lot nicer too.

Wait, how much is the upgrade to the steroid? I thought it was $75! I have a 392 already so how much would it be to have him fix it so it's easier pumping and shoots faster?

i think the billet pump arm is like 50-70 bucks, the steroid tune is 75, and there are a few other things/options you can get as well. it is best to just buy the gun from them already tuned. it is much cheaper that way, then it is 285-400 bucks depending on options. he took down the old pages that explained everything and gave all the different options you could get. so im not completely sure.

I bought a Steroid extended billet 392 from Mac-1 last year. I had them cut the forestock back as well, because I like the look, and it helps with pumping (more leverage).
Great gun
LOUD, too.

that is amazing! 24fpe out of a pumper! I want one so bad. one of these days i will get one. I am a fan of mac1's work and and an even bigger fan of pumpers. and this one is certainly the king of pumpers. I also would like to have a daisy 22sg, an old crosman 1400, and an old silver streak .20
